My question is Are you allowed to have blue cheese dressing on salads on the Medifast Diet? Looking forward for any comment. My other question... Just wondering if there's anymore of you out there!? Would love to start a support thread for others In a way of life where we avoid so many vices that trap the world, I think we've replaced EVERYTHING with food!. |
Of course! although you might wanna make sure and wait for someone else to confirm this as I am not quite sure. Better yet, why don't you ask the Medifast guys because they can give you help better...
Thank heavens! For a while I thought I was the only one!.
How are you honoring fast Sunday on MF?.. |
I am not.
Active. So I don't guess I really count. LOL. But I wish you all so much luck!!!.. |
Active...not active...you're still welcome to stay!! and of course NonMembers are always welcome as well...that's part of every LDS activity!.
Regarding Fast Sunday...I don't. My husband is diabetic and isn't allowed to fast because of what happens with his blood sugar. I look at Medifast the same way. It's a medical situation. When I get to transition and Maintenance I'll reassess the situation. The rest of the family still fasts...everything else is the same...we break the fast with a family prayer, etc.. What do you do?.. |
This was my first Fast Sunday and I wasn't sure. When I was doing Optifast, I stuck to that schedule and skipped fasting. This time, I thought I might give it a try, but talked it over with my husband. He felt I should stick to the Medifast schedule, but said it was up to me. What a guy. I prayed about it and was going to, but this morning I just felt like I needed to stick to the program.
Keep in the spirit of things, etc.. For those who don't know, LDS fast two meals on the first Sunday of every month and donate the cost of those two meals to Church. This is what the Church uses to provide food, etc., for people who are struggling financially. It is a temporary service, not something long-term. The money is also used to help feed the needy around the world. It really is a great blessing... |
That is a great idea!! Remind me of that next month. It keeps the blood sugar level but yet is a bit of a "humbling" sacrifice..
I'm curious is y'all are avoiding any of the products for Word of Wisdom reasons?.. |
What products need to be avoided, for word of wisdom reasons, other than the tea, and coffee items? I wouldn't normally use those products so yes I guess I "avoid" them because I simply don't order them. In my starter pack I gave it away. Is there something in Medifast food I don't know about?..
I'm not doing the tea and coffee, even though they don't have caffeine (at least the ones that I have looked at). Other than that, I haven't seen anything that would be a problem. I can't do the stuff with caffeine because I have high blood pressure and have been told by my doctor not to have caffeinated sodas, etc..
I'm really looking forward to the whole "run and not be weary....walk and not faint" thing... |
GoJo...nothing sinister. I was talking about.
: Chai, Cappucino and Swiss Mocha basically. I grew up in a house with parents who were converts and we had coffee ice cream as a treat. These products made me think back to those days and wonder... |
My random thought this afternoon: Food Storage. And not just the extra bag of flour, etc. Serious, emergency, food storage. OP food storage. A 72 hour kit is suddenly a no-brainer, because that gets filled with MF. But I wonder if food storage is going to change when I reach goal and am into maintenance.
The little food storage I have is laden with carbs - flour, wheat, rice, etc. Honestly, if there is an earthquake bad enough to require me to use my food storage, eating OP is going to be way down on my to-do list.. Any thoughts on how to adapt food storage to MF? Or vice versa?.. |

Hi Ladies!!.
I am beginning Medifast next week and was very surprised to see this posting. I was actually looking to see if there was anybody from Utah but this'll fit the ticket! I joined Medifast back in 2006 and now I'm back in 2010. I will be starting next week because I'm driving to Denver for my nephew's missionary homecoming on the 15th.. Morada, I was interested to see that your starting weight & goal weight are pretty close to mine. Purplemom8, I also grew up with convert parents and am always proud of that fact, except I squirm a bit when people talk about their wonderful pioneer ancestors. and I am I am sooo impressed by your 76 pound weight loss! As far as fast Sunday goes, I always stayed OP during those days in the past. Our calorie intake is so low on Medifast that I feel it might compromise our health. A month ago I fainted from dehydration and suffered a head injury, was in the ER for 6 hours, etc. Definitely NOT FUN, nor was the fact that my kids found me passed out on the floor. Anyway, I hope to get to know y'all better. I was always a lurker on this site before, so I have to figure out how to do these tickers and photos and really join in with everybody. I think it would have helped me stay with the program back in 2006. {{hugs}}Carolyn.. |

Carolyn - my daughter is at BYU and just decided today that she wants to try MF. I think I'm buying her product at my clinic in CA and shipping it to her. Our youngest daughter is in the process of putting in her mission papers, so we want to do a family portrait before she leaves. And everyone is in a mad scramble to become "picture perfect" or at least picture worthy!.
As far as pioneers go - you ARE the product of pioneers. I'm the first one in my family and married a guy of "pioneer stock", but he's just as jazzed about my family history as I am. (thank you genealogy!). Jump into boards all over. I've met some wonderful people who are helping me alot... |
Hi guys! Sorry I've been absent but we're on our way to a Family Reunion and there was so much that I had to do to get ready! Carolyn...welcome. We're just getting started with this board but it'll be fun having others to talk with who understand us Peculiar People!.
Morada..interesting thought about the 72 hour kits. I hadn't even thought about it. My initial thought was...Oh my goodness...I don't even know what's in my 72 hour kit it's been so long. I would be concerned about having ONLY Medifast because we aren't sure what situation we would be in and may need to have enough calories to survive. But I would add things like tuna pouches for extra protein. What kind of Medifast would you use? I think the shakes are your best bet cause they're add water and go. Maybe when you get a new order swap out with what you put in last month? That way it doesn't get too old.. PS...Where in CA are you? and regarding yourndaughter nat BYU, Can't you order online and have it shipped to her by MF?.. |
Carolyn65, where in Utah are you? I am in Kanab. I think you are right it would be nice to know those who are in your area of the state...
Hi Everyone.
I had a wonderful time at our missionary homecoming/family reunion in Denver. I spent 4 hours in the dentist's chair yesterday getting restoration work done due to my fainting episode in June (fell right on my mouth on a tub surround in the bathroom) and I have another appt. requiring Valium and sedation next week. The sedation made me so ill yesterday that I've decided I have to wait til the next appt. is completed before starting on MF. I can't risk fainting again.. Gojobisch I live in Bluffdale. I"ve been through Kanab only a few times but thought it was so beautiful! My kids love to visit Bryce Canyon every year and we try to visit other towns in the area. I'm always on the lookout for quilting storesdoes Kanab have any?. Morada where in California do you live? Up until 2004 I lived outside of Sacramento. Hmmm... Bluffdale and Folsom. I seem to be attracted to state penitenturies. I am envious that you have a local Medifast supplier that would relieve the panicky feeling when supplies are running low.. Good luck to you all this weekendI so admire what you've already accomplished & hope to be joining you soon! {{{hugs}}} Carolyn.. |
Carolyn I don't blame you for waiting to start Medifast till you are 100%. That's a scary thing. As far as location, I'm east of San Diego, in Lakeside. And yeah, it's nice having a place to go and pick up just what you want. I also like the counselor I see there. She's helping me work through some rough spots, but I am not having a hard time with MF.
I think the counselor will really earn her $$ when I hit transition and start to panic. But that is months away... |
Hey Carolyn! I'm in Lincoln..also outside of Sacramento. You left just as we were getting our temple! We are going to be moving back to Citrus Heights soon (we moved out here in 2006) and Morada...my parents live in Vista! So now that we've established where everyone lives....
How are you all doing on MF? Another Fast Sunday is approaching. We are going to be leaving on a Cruise to celebrate our 35th anniversary this Saturday so we'll be missing Church. But it has been fun buying new clothes for the cruise wardrobe. I'm down from a 4X to a XL or L. Exciting!! I'm coming up on my 8 month anniversary on Saturday and am hoping to get to 85 pounds off! (this morning's weigh-in was 217.6, 82.9 pounds). Talk to y'all when I get back... |
Just wanted to check in and say hi. Also, my daughter received her mission call last week - she reports in Feb to serve at Temple Square. She is so excited, and so are we..
DD2 at college has started Medifast and is doing wonderful. She sounds so happy and is thrilled that her clothes are no longer tight. I've promised her a shopping trip when she gets to goal. At the rate she's losing, she's going to beat me!.. |
How are you all doing? I know it's been awhile since I've posted but life got a little hysterical there for awhile. We have a house that we tried to sell so we could move to our dream house. The house didn't sell but we moved anyway and tried to rent the old house until the real estate market turned around. Well, you know what the GA's say about avoiding debt? We were wallowing in it...2 houses, 4 mortgages....So we decided to sell our dream house and go back to our original house. The tenant gave her notice that she was moving out so that reinforced our decision. But she left behind a house that needed alot of work.
Then we started moving in. We're still not done!! We've been eating out alot. But I've stayed on Medifast for 5 meals a day, and eat out dinner and I've still had good results.. I'm not looking forward to Christmas...my favorite time of year when the world focuses on Jesus Christ... |
Yay!! One-derland. For the first time in 25 years I am under 200 pounds. Thank you Heavenly Father for directing me to Medifast...
Good Morning to all! Are you enjoying the Christmas Season so far?..
Checking in to say hi. Two of our girls are flying out on Friday morning to go back to BYU. DD2 is still a student and DD1 (who graduated a few years ago) is going with her for a week to talk to some of her old professors about starting grad school there. She's also checking out USU in Logan..
35 more days till DD3 reports to the MTC for her mission. I am focusing on being happy and excited - her nerves are kicking in along with a little unspoken fear. But she knows this is what she is supposed to be doing and we have already had so many blessings come into our family because of it.. As far as my Medifast journey, I have 12-13 pounds left to goal. I am excited about goal, but I have some fears about Transition, that I'll start putting weight back on just like with all the other diets. My counselor at the clinic is a big help, along with some great people on the boards here, so in my head I know I can do this. It is getting my heart and my stomach convinced as well!. Happy OP Day!.. |
Sounds like your family is doing great! AND so are you. I have awhile to go until I face transition. My current struggle is getting back to being 100% OP. I have gotten sloppy with my Snacks, Condiments and Lean & Greens. I'm currently in Rexburg with a friend of mine whose daughter checks into the dorms tomorrow. As soon as I arrive home I'm getting strict again.
I see people who have been on medifast for a shorter time than I and have lost more. What have I missed out on while I've been dilly dallying down the path...walking this path in a zigzag pattern? New resolution for 2011...100% OP one day at a time. Going home to food scales, measuring cups and reading the plan all over again... |
Just wanted to pop in and say hi to everyone. Hope you are having a wonderful, OP week!.
Last week we sent our youngest off to the MTC. She'll be serving her mission at Temple Square. We got our first letter yesterday and she is just bubbling over with happiness. We are so excited for her and know she is going to touch many, many lives for good... |
Congrats Donna!!.
That's awesome! I'm so glad that you posted today so that the thread popped up on the top and I saw it!!. I'm Rachael, my DH and I are an Army family and I'm currently stationed in Afghanistan...I have two little boys, ages 4 and 21 months...so "future" missionaries!. I'm also the Bagram Branch Relief Society President here which (I think) is the "real" reason the Lord wanted me here! It's so great to see an LDS community here!!. YAY!. Have an awesome OP Week!!.. |
Hi there Rachael. Congrats on being an Army family. Are the kids in the States? I can't see the Army sending them with you (hopefully you and your husband will be home safe very soon)..
I got all teary when I saw that General Authorities were organizing military branches in the Mid East. We may not be able to do missionary work there, but because of the military, there are stakes of Zion actually IN Zion. How awesome. If there is anything you need as a RS Prez, just scream. I know how to ship things! I'm currently wearing several hats - Stake Primary counselor (I get to do the 8 year old baptisms), Sunday bulletin and ward website and a VT supervisor. I guess the Lord really wants to keep my hands busy. Hugs!.. |

Hello Everyone!.
I was on Medifast last year and had lost 45 lbs, then Summer came and I let myself get out of control again.. In Oct. 2010 I was baptised into the Church. I have an amazing testimony and am glad to have found my path.. I just did a search to see if any other LDS'ers were on here and found this tread, so happy I did.. I see some of you are actually from my home town, Sacramento. I grew up in Citrus Heights in the 70's and then lived in Folsom, which we moved from in 2005 (just before the market fell) to NC.. We are planning a trip back home this Sept, but I won't be able to attend the Temple just yet. I will however be a visitor and take some pictures.. So I have begun Medifast again because I KNOW it WORKS! I had some left over and placed my big order today.. I know that keeping up with these board threads really helped me last year, so I know supportive friends are a must on this program.. Have a great day everyone!.. |

Ok I'm not really a joiner but I am a Mormon. So lets see what happens...
