Got a question, hope someone can answer... Does the Medifast Diet reduce cholestrol if you follow it? Thanks for any response. Second question.. I am hanging on by a thread...i find it very difficult to stay away from temptations, esp being as hungry as I am! Any suggestions to feel fuller? to feel like I am eating healthy and not feeling like I am filled with chemicals?. |

The answer is Yes, although you might want to make sure and wait for someone else here to confirm this as I am unsure. Better yet, why don't you email the Medifast guys because they can answer you better...

Hi there-you're doing great! You've lost 5 pounds in two weeks and that's a great accomplishment! Remember that you are in control and can choose to make the very best choices for yourself. You can do it!.
When I think I'm hungry, I drink extra water and it really helps a lot-maybe give it a try?.. |
If you are constantly hungry some things to try are:.
Drink extra water. Eat a pickle. Drink a cup of chicken broth (this seems to really help for me.) Make sure you are measuring your lean and green, if not you could be getting too many carbs which will make you hungrier.. You can do this... |
You can do it! I fully understand how you feel. I am in my 7th week of Medifast and the first three weeks were a MONSTER. The good news is that it will get better! I have lost 21 pounds so far and I feel better than I've felt in years. The hunger will pass also, as long as you stay on plan. The longer I am on the program, the easier the temptations have gotten to resist. Just stick with it.
You're doing a great job! Better days are ahead!.. |
I'm new too, having a hard time but decide to hang out and try to make it work. I have question about a pickle.... hate them, can I just eat a baby cucumber?..
Try not to add an extra Medifast meal...the carbs will put you over 100 and then you'll need to get back into ketosis again. Best thing, choose leanest protein so you can have 7oz., "big" green like salad and plenty of hot tea..
Volcano, not sure about the cucumber...maybe try doing a search of Medifast typing in "pickle" and "cucumber" to see if they've addressed the issue... |

I'm RIGHT there with you! I've been surrounded by nothing but junk food for two days, and they happen to be my very FIRST two days OP. Between the headache and the massive hunger tonight, I almost borke down and said "Forget it! THe whole week will be like this! I'm starting next week." But I took a minute and I thought logically and I knew that the "I'll start tomorrow" thing never works. Tomorrow never comes and I"m sick of weighing what I do! I'm sick of being uncomfortable in my clothing and I'm sick of wearing clothes that hide rather than show off my body and I'm sick of having no energy and I'm sick of hating how I look in pictures. I'm sick of it all! And NONE of it is going to change if I give in and eat that entire bag of chips, plus the container of cookies next to it (and I would eat it all right now, believe me)..
I know it sucks when you don't see the weight loss like you want to, but maybe put the scale away for two weeks or something. What the scale says has always determined my whole day, so I promised myself I wouldn't go near it for the first month. I KNOW I will see a good loss after a month and that will keep me going.. Hang in there! We are all rooting for you!!!!.. |

Eating an EXTRA serving of veggies will not harm your program, esp. since you are at the beginning.... you have to do what you have to do in order to stay on program..
In the beginning you must MUST PUSH yourself through all the emotions of not being able to stuff down your feelings with food. drink extra water, even if it means having extra crystal light in it, again, in the beginning it wont hurt. warm tea, hot low sodium broth with seasonings, throw in some spinach, or sliced celery and again seasonings..... All comes down to how badly do you want to lose weight. and what are you will to go through to get it off...... MF is THE primo way to lose the weight, short of weightloss surgery, there is no better, more effective tool...(all diets are just that, tools, to help you get it off). Write a journal too to get those feelings out..... you can do this... question is do you want to.. |
It's amazing to me, but I got through that hungry period for a few days with bouillon! I thought there was no way that would do the trick, but it really did! (Plus, I think I needed the sodium with all the water I was drinking... and then peeing!!!)..

There are some days getting through the hungries is SO hard. I just drink a lot of water and sit on my hands if I need to. Water has helped with some of the hungries. I still have hungry days now and than, but not nearly as much as I used to...
Just remember being hungry is not the end of the world........and you're eating 6 times a day. For the most part your body is just fighting you..........you can WIN I know you can!!! Please try to stay away from the extra Medifast meal, or veggies.....You really don't want to the extra carbs. Staying with the low carbs is what's going to make you stop being hungry. Hang in there!..

I find making my shakes into a CAKE seems to fill me up for a time..
Put the shake powder in a cup, mix baking powder, egg beaters, and small dash of water.....just to cake batter consistency. nuke for one min. you have a cake.. I love the dutch choc.. It feels me up!. Also try the tomato soup and make bread with it.. Maybe having sumthing to chew will suit you more?. Look on recipies section to get ideas..... this should work... |
Two changes in my actions helped me stay OP in the first two weeks:.
Oolong tea in the afternoon was a "help" not a cure for me in some tuff times. I learned to eat and drink (wait for it) S L O W L Y. Don't ever eat or drink standing.. Of course as others have said water makes you fuller. In a particularily difficult two days dill pickles were also a big help.. Make it all work for you! When you succeed in this you will. REALLY. Feel good about it and making it through one of these personal challeges makes future temptations so much easier to manage... |

Good advice KL! Also Nissa, take a step back and check the basics. Are you logging ALL of your food? It keeps you honest. Are you weighing ALL of your L&G food? Guessing or eye-balling can throw you off. Have you read the Medifast materials/Quick Start Guide thoroughly? It's easy to miss things the first time around. Have you tried Egg Beaters or Egg Whites with your veggies, and splitting your L&G? This is a tremendous amount of food and will keep you 'full'. And, be very, very careful about snacks/condiments.
"Extra" food or carbs will not always help with hungerit may increase it. And, I know what others have said, but eating extra Medifast meals is not always the answer; not a good habit to get intoagain, the slippery slope. Lastly, hunger will not kill you. It is a temporary inconvenience that can be remedied. Keep your eye on the prize, gut it out if you have to and keep moving on.. |
The baby cucumber doesn't have salt which is why the pickle spears are recommended to help with the headaches, etc...
Thank you all so much for your advice and kind words...it really, really helps! Hope all of you are cruising through your day OP...I keep thinking about how great it will feel to be skinny...thanks for keeping me in check!..

It will get better! Drink lots of water and stay OP. The first few weeks are so hard, but it is so easy now. I am 33.2 pounds down in about 12 weeks and it feels great! You can be in the same spot in just a short time. The good thing about Medifast is that you eat every 3 hours. It is not that long to wait. I find the chicken noodle soup to be more filling than other meals, or Medifast eggs with a little onion, pepepers and tomato. You can do it!!!!..
