HELLO CREW!.

Seems like Jan has done a good job updating everyone during my absence! Training for the 1/2 and dating has made me really busy lately! Oh I have to correct Debbie I ran 10 miles in an hour and a half not and hour! EEK! If I was that fast sign me up for the US olympic team! LOL! I'm running a 9min mile consistently..

As.

Christine.

May remember the fair last year was a house of horrors for me. I ate an elephant ear while I was on 5&1 and got so so so completely sick. It was the one time I cheated on MF. So when the fair came around again this year I was obviously very anxious. I take my little step brother each year and we do have fun. I was just overwhelmed by the food stress.

I was repulsed by everything and nothing looked appetizing at all. It was such a relief and I was so grateful to have Jan there!.

My step-brother said he wanted an elephant ear but I asked him if he would rather get frozen yogurt and he instantly said yes so thats what we did. Great end to a fun day! Hope everyone has a great OP Day!..

ROFL....CGU!!!.

Last week: OP 7, Water 7, Exercise 1.

Gotta get that exercise number back up there. I'm counting down for my cruise...34/19/11. That's 34 days, 19 hours and 11 minutes til we set sail, so to speak. I have a countdown widget on my home page.

Down another pound and a half - I'll take it..

Sherry.

- maybe there'll be a little more action in here during the day if you're hanging around. It's been real quiet. I've been swamped at work with no end in sight, not to mention there's new firewalls going up all the time. I rarely get to read, much less post, during the day anymore..

Melissa.

- you need a countdown for your race. You're gonna smoke 'em!.

Sherry & Kitty.

Hi crew,.

Fun to see some of you again..

Jan: you are so close to goal..

Feb 2010 I made goal and went through maintenance. I was trying to find my good weight. I felt like after transition where I loved being a size 4 I was not feeling like that was my good weight and wanted to put some weight back on. It happened naturally as I believe your body will find a good weight for it as long as you are making healthy choices..

But it's really easy to go back to your old habbits. I found myself slowly creeping back to them over the holiday season. I realized what was happening and was able to use my resources from what I learned on the 5+1 and get my eating back under-control almost. Then I found out I was pregnant. My husband and I don't have any children and we are thrilled..

I started Medifast after a miscarriage and after reaching goal was excited to try to get pregnant with a healthy body. When I found out I was pregnant and not back to the weight I wanted I was disappointed. Then the morning, afternoon and night sickness kicked in and eating healthy was not happening. After reading "Excuses Be Gone" I know that I was full of excuses and allowed myself to eat things that were not on my eating plan..

I am now getting out of my first trimester and entering a place where I feel better and I'm ready to say "Excuses Be Gone!".

I need to be held accountable and get back to my eating plan. I'm going to start letting you all know my water, exercise and how often I am OP for my plan...

O just lost my post.

Exercised watered & OP today! Remind me how much better I feel when I exercise in the morning - both mentally and physically. It was a sunny day, cold but sunny, and I kept wanting to go out for a run. It just gives me so much more energy when I start the day on the treadmill..

Cassandra.

- What exciting news!! Congrats!! So good to see you back here. It'll be fun to go through your pregnancy with you.

And, yes, I'm close to goal....

Again.

I hit goal last summer but did not follow T&M - just sort of winged it. The weight crept back on and I kept ignoring it til here I am back on 5 & 1 as if I never left.

It's way past my bedtime and I better hit the hay so I can get up and git the treadmill again!.

Hi and welcome Casandra..

Barb, I missed you too. Thought of you this morning as I had a knee surgery to "clean it out". Remember last week when I couldn't peddle my bike? Well, saw the surgeon and he couldn't manipulate it either. So we went in today and cleaned it out. He found a rather large osteophytekinda like a bone spur, that was limiting the range of motion. He was able to get the knee to 120 degrees under general anesthesia after the clean out so I'm hopeful that rehab will keep me in that range.

Temps in the 40's and slushy. More and more pavement showing every day..

Feel another nap coming on. I'll check in again later..

Good morning!.

Kind of a grey day in Denver, I'm hoping for snow or rain ... we really need the moisture..

Christine, I had knee surgery a few years ago and thought the recuperation went on waaaay too long but I was so happy when I was back to normal. It was amazing to me how much I had missed not being in pain and how long I had actually lived with it. Congratulations on the surgery being over ... the rest is constant progress!.

Congratulations Casandra! A baby is such lovely news and such a special time in life! When I was pregnant (it feels like about 10,000 years ago) I paid no attention to what I was doing food wise and have really paid the price. Yea for you for working on this ... both you and the baby will be healthier for it!.

I can't believe I'm only on day 10. I feel like I've learned so much already ... like when my body is truly hungry and when it wants to just snack. I thought I could extend my meals to every 3 hours but it seems that every 2 hours is just about perfect. And goodness, it seems that I have a little more energy!!! I know there is a long road ahead but if it doesn't get any worse than this and I keep doing what I'm supposed to with food, water and exercise I actually think I might be able to succeed ... who knew?.

Sick 16 yr old at home today so I can't go into the office, which is going to make me whacky pretty soon but cycling tonight with a girlfriend so that'll get me out of the house. Made a yummy red chard dish last night with onions, olives and capers ... my 12 year old liked it ... the 16 yr old still looks scared :-).

Have a great day everyone!!!..

Thank you all for your warm congratulations. I'm very excited..

Melissa.

, What race are you doing? I ran my first 1/2 marathon the summer after I reached goal. It was so wonderful. I'm hooked. Unfortunately I can't run now because my heart rate gets too high,(I guess my internal temp gets too high for the baby when my heart rate is over 140) but I miss it and will be happy to get back to it..

Barb.

, I'm with you... Where is spring?.

Jan,.

I too feel better when I exercise in the morning. Most of the time I have to work out in the afternoon due to my schedule, but it does make the day so much brighter to start off with a run. Also I'm a big believer in T&M. I've seen many people have the weight come back when they have skipped the T&M. Good for you for jumping back on. Soon you will find the fun of adding food slowly.

For example I found that I can have my whole grains before dinner or I would not be able to stop eating them. It's a good time to figure things out..

Christine,.

Thank you for your welcome. I hope all goes well with your knee. A nap sounds great!.

Neena,.

My health coach is also my OB. She got me on Medifast after I had a miscarriage. It was not due to my weight but since my husband and I waited to try again she suggested I try to get my weight under control so I could have a healthier next pregnancy. I have gained too much weight or more than I would want to gain for the first trimester and it's good to have my OB know what I need to hear to help me get back on track. I told her what I had been eating and she looked so stunned it cracked me up. I'm one that doesn't need to hear "It's OK" because that wont make me change.

That's just what I needed to hear..

Also, I found that Medifast is the only diet that taught me when I was snacking for emotional reasons or habits. I found that I usually snack when I go shopping, something I learned when every time I went shopping I found myself looking at the snacky food even if I just ate a Medifast meal..

Yesterday I got my water in and was mostly OP. I'm working harder today. I need to be fully OP for three days to get my eyebrows done. They are getting scary so I need to get a hang of this now!!!..

Hi ladies, I tried to check in early this morning but the site was so slow I had to give up. I did not get off to a smooth start today. We had to leave the house at 6:15 a.m. and were going to be home around 10:00, and then I had to go to work after that. Since dh was going to be driving, I got up, threw on some clothes and we were out the door quickly before I'd fully woken up. So I forgot to take my food with me, which, had I planned properly, I would have made last night (shakes).

So I did the best I could with what was available. Meaning, I was not OP this morning. It was bad planning all around, I was late to work; I hate starting the day like this, even if I'm outta there in 6 weeks; I still do not like to be late and I do not enjoy inconveniencing my co-workers. Bad planning all around. Won't happen again.

Knowing that weigh-in day follows those two events is good motivation to stay OP. More than that, though, I need to practice staying OP w/o a scale for all the traveling I will be doing..

Mornin' all!.

So I find myself dreaming about that terrible mac n cheese where the sauce is in the package and is all gooey and numminess ... <sigh> it must be bad because I'm a good cook. LOL! Sunny and breezy here in Denver. Mostly OP yesterday (and yes I did say a big NO to the mac n cheese :-) ... watered and exercised ... hopefully better today..

My son is sick again ... I sure wish we could get an answer on this or that he would magically get better ... he's missing soooo much school. I'm going to have to leave him at home and go into the office which is good for me mentally and keeps me away from fridge surfing. I had no idea I opened that door so much!!!.

Kitty, I sure hope your day is better ... when those days show up for me the only answer is to get it over with and to bed!.

Casandra, your comment on your brows made me laugh. It is just one of those things that slides to the bottom of the to do list :-) Good luck on the goal!.

Yesterday I was OP.

Drank all my water and exercised. OP so far today.

Not going to get my exercised in, but parked far away when I went shopping so I'm counting that..

Melissa,.

Good luck on your 1/2. My first was in Napa. It was so beautiful. The biggest advise is to start slow. You get so pumped up with the excitement of the race that you will run faster than you normally do and not even realize it. Try to find a pacer that is slower than you normally run and take the first two miles at a slower pace.

Make sure you drink and get in calories while running. Some people use the drink they have at the water stations as the calories, but I liked gue. It was easy to eat while running..

Under two hours! Wow. I did my first in 2:23 and that was with a bathroom break in the middle. Oh that leads me to my second suggestion. Go to the bathroom when you first get to the start line then get back in line and go again before the race. The bathroom lines tend to be long. Then maybe you wont have to stop like I did in the middle of the race..

Kitty,.

It never fails that when we fail to plan we plan to fail. I really have to think about my full day to make sure everything gets in and OP and when I don't I too find myself in tough situation. Have fun on your travels..

Jan.

, A cruise to Italy? I'd love to go. Any room in your suitcase?.

Neena,.

Glad I'm not the only bushy brow gal around here. LOL..

I've been there where I've started dreaming of foods that are off plan. But the good thing is after being OP for a long time you will find your taste changing. I was surprised when I went through the T&M program that I did not even want Mac and Cheese, and trust me, I ate it a lot before MF..

Happy Day to all. I'm trying not to read too much into the fact that my jeans ripped in the butt today. Why must the butt get bigger when you have a baby? Really the baby does not go there. I guess it's time to bite the bullet and buy the maternity jeans. Too bad because those jeans were low rise and could have lasted a few more weeks I'm sure...

Morning all!.

Yesterday/Thursday: OP: yes; Water: yes; Exercise: no. But like Cassandra, I parked far (didn't shop) and did the stairs a lot. Does back & forth to my colleagues cube 20 times count?.

Neena.

Barb taught us all a good fridge surfing deterrant. Make a list of small chores - organize sock drawer, dust the living room, clean bathroom sinks, etc. - and put in on the fridge door. Every time you open it when it's not meal time, do a chore. Not only keeps temptation at bay, makes for a clean and organized house.

My countdown is a Google Gadget that's on my iGoogle home page. I had one last time that was a little program displayed on the desktop. (I used this one:.

) You can also make tickers at tickerfactory.com, but those are for displaying in blogs & BBs & such. Google countdown and you'll find all kinds..

Cassandra.

Plenty of room in my suitcase, as I haven't started packing yet. Plus, I can pack twice as many of these size 6/8's than I did of my size 22/24 last time we cruised.

Barb & Melissa.

- Run, Run, Run!!.

Kitty.

See above for countdowns....if I were retiring, I'd just hang out in Italy and surrounds and meet you in Portugal <sigh>. WTG on Planning! I've already got half my lunch bag packed. I usually plan ahead, but I'm not always so good at the prep part, so I frequently leave something behind. Thank goodness I have tons of Medifast at both my office locations. Not always the exact one I want, but certainly a choice of items!.

Speaking of planning & prepping, better get of the 'puter and in the shower. DH is home sick, so I don't have to fight him for the bathroom..

Have a great OP Friday!!..

Good thing I was off yesterday and am feeling rested this morning. I like being off on Thursdays, even though I've sacrificed having two days off in a row. Good morning!.

Yesterday stayed OP, watered but no exercise as planned ... someone had the nerve to schedule a meeting over my exercise time then I had to work til about 8. Wonder if "thinking" about it counts? Today for sure! I'm free in the afternoon and think I deserve a nice workout and maybe a steam :-).

Melissa, Barb and Casandra.

: Yea for you running in 5Ks. I've never had the wind even when I was skinny. I did recently buy a heart monitor and have enjoyed watching with the 'internals' of my body are doing while I exercise. Was going to workout with my sister today but she had invited a coworker who I don't know well ... found myself getting the 'shys' about sweating with a stranger LOL ... I'd rather go to a huge building of strangers where a nice selection of bodies abound :-).

Jan.

: Thanks for the ticker information. My kids know we're going somewhere but not where. I'm going to start sneaking little hints into their lives til they figure it out. I'm changing their screen savers, going to tuck plastic sea turtles under their pillows and other fun stuff. I think I may be having more fun with this .. hehe.

Jan & Barb.

: Good pointer. Tiny chores to offset the fridge surfing. I will do that ... and put the list INSIDE the fridge!!!!.

Last night I had to laugh, my daughter asked me why the dinners I *always* make have lots of vegetables ... jeepers it's only been 12 days! It'll be fun to have them adjust to this new way of eating with me..

Enjoy your day all! And if I don't chat with you, have a great weekend!!!..

Good morning everyone. You may have noticed I didn't weigh in and report yesterday. I am taking a scale vacation with Kitty. Always good to force yourself to be strict with your eating plan, whether it is 5+1 or mainteanance. It is always good to have some time to focus on the plan. Mine has involved the change in percentages of protein and healthy carbs.

Can I just say that I am excited about the 4 races I'll be running in the next two months. I just want to get outside and run. The amount of energy I get is great, but it always helps me to clear my head after a long winter. I need sun..

Thankfully, my teeth are not going to paly a factor today..

Lots of peopole who haven't checked in. Where are you Neena? Christine? Sherry? Missing you!..

Hi girls, trying to stay sane as I get a lot of details in order for my upcoming trips. It's thrilling that I can take these trips but I think I may have bitten off a little too much in terms of trip planning while I'm still working. Oh well, everything's reserved and paid for, so all I have to do is fill in the blanks, detail-wise. Like clothing...I don't know what to pack for two very different trips and I don't know what size I will be in June! As for shoes, I'm going for comfort and safety/stability and not for beauty. As for food, I'm going to pack some Medifast foods so I need to think about what & how much so I can get that ordered and received in time. My Washington State trip starts June 2 but as the airline connections are not great I am thinking of shipping my luggage ahead of time, which means that much more planning that much sooner.

It seems a bit much right now, but I'll get it done. Puffs and pretzels will not pack well, I don't think, so maybe I should rely on bars? Any suggestions about that? Of course on the WA trip I'll be at a friend's house so I can pack all kinds of packets for whatever meals we eat at home. I'm thinking of getting brownies for the very first time and having them on that trip for meal #6 as a treat..

Kitty,.

I love to carry bars when I travel. They take up a little more space, but really are handy and no worries. Comfortable shoes are best...

Wow....I just remembered that yesterday, April 2, was my 2 year anniversary. 2 years ago I weighed 246 pounds, was addicted to sugar and couldn't walk up the stairs without getting winded. Thank you Medifast and the crew. I am thin and healthy...

Hi Crew,.

Wow, what a week..

Barb,.

I'm with you when we say thank you Medifast for helping us be thin and fit. My recovery from knee surgery has been unexpectedly "easy", nothing like 3 years ago. I expected a very painful day about 30 hours after surgery when the local anesthesia wore off. Nothing but a few twinges. Haven't needed any pain meds stronger than ibuprofen. I am walking upstairs like nothing ever happened and spent the day at the races yesterday helping the kids with their last race of the year and loading and unloading dogs with just a slight limp.

But when I lie down I just nap so I'm not getting any paperwork or computer work done. And I'm not saying I'm not sore, just amazed at my return to function. And amazed at how much atrophy has occured on my quad. I have work to do to get the brain and quad communicating and trusting each other again. P.T.

Thank you, Medifast. I am certain I would never have recovered this fast 120 pounds ago..

I'll write more later but my abs and neck are aching from typing on the computer in a half-sitting position with my leg strapped on the motion machine. Passive range up to 105 degrees. Trying to achieve the 120 the surgeon had under General before I give the machine back Tuesday..

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!!.

Good morning, Crew! Happy Monday - I know, that's an oxymoron, but I'm down a whopping 2.6 this week and am thrilled. That puts me 1 lb away from goal. And although I'm not calling Goal, I am going to start transition. I want to be well on my way into transition when we go on our cruise in 4 weeks..

So bring on the extra veggies! I think I'll stick to 5&1 veggies for a while so I can keep up the downward momentum..

Summary for the week:.

OP - 7.

Water - 7.

Exercise - 3.

Have a FABULOUS OP Day, my friends!..

Jan, one pound from goal?! You go, girl!!! Christine, you are so lucky to have the CPM machine at home!!! Last June when I had knee replacement, they wouldn't send me home with a CPM machine. While in the hospital, I loved that thing and would have gladly stayed at least another day or two just to stay on the machine. Did you have a knee replacement, or a different knee surgery? A co-worker's husband had a knee replacement a month ago and they sent him home with a CPM machine and he was recovering very nicely even without going for physical therapy..

Good morning! I'm not seeing a thread for this week yet, so I'll post here!.

Barb! Wow! An inspiration to be sure! Congratulations!.

Christine, it's so wonderful to hear about your recuperation ... when I had my surgery I knew that my weight was holding me back from getting where I needed to be. And boy oh boy do I know about typing on a laptop while lying down :-) Hang in there! Can you nap while your machine does the work?.

Jan: 1 pound away! That is wonderful ... and then on to transition! I can't even imagine being at that point. Congratulations. I'll echo Kitty ... time to dust off that bikini!.

Here's my tiny update: 2.4 pounds down this week, I'll take it but I know I wasn't completely OP ... I did keep watered and exercised 5x. Cheers to a better week both kids in school today, no more sick ... HALLELUJAH! Just praying we can make it through the end of the year with no more absences. I'm scheduled to be in Orlando next week for work ... 4 days and 3 nights of 'networking' lunches, and evening events ...

Planning to stay in my room for breakfast and maybe even retire there for lunch. Lately though, it seems that these events do have some lower calorie/fat options and usually some veggies available. Need to check the hotel to see if there is a fitness room and just do my best I suppose. Thought I'd work on some mini goals today and put them in my signature. I took pictures of myself on Friday (April 1) ...

Enjoy your day!..

Casandra.

Thank you for the GREAT advice! I really appreciate it. Especially the bathroom tip. I have to go to the bathroom immediately before I run so getting back into line after going the first time is a great tip! Do you use a Garmin watch when you are running to track your pace? I use my Nike Plus with my iPhone and I think I'm going to use it come Sunday even though it is pretty bulky. I've been training with it so I think I will be okay. My under 2hr goal is definitely ambitious but my training partner thinks I can do it. We shall see!..

Howdie everyone! It was 79 here today so DH and I loaded the bikes and went for a nice ride on the local rail trail. Usually I would run, but today was a no-run/cross train only day. I still only run every other day at the most. Sometimes I'll sneak in a little one mile jog or a mile of intervals, but never anymore than a mile on a no-run day. I enjoy running too much, that I don't want to chance wrecking my knees or something else..

Melissa.

, I ditto what.

Casandra.

Says, get back into line and go again. I have this problem. I can barely run a 5K without having to go. I schedule all my runs around toilets. Although, I don't think this comes as news to anyone. And I don't drink anywhere near as much as Melissa does!.

Jan.

, the good news is that if you transition properly, you will probably lose a little more weight. Any chance you can pack me in your bags?.

Kitty.

, I am enjoying that scale vacation with you. I am writing down everything I eat, but not getting on that nasty thing..

Christine.

, isn't amazing how much better everything is without extra weight! My knee surgery recovery went so fast in November. And now I'm back on it and running better times than last year. I hope you continue to imrpove..

Neena.

Make sure you take plenty of meals with you. I did quite a few conference trips while I was on 5+1. No one really noticed. I ate lunch and dinner with everyone else, I just was very picky. I did breakfast on my own in my room. Good luck!.

Have a great evening everyone!..

Melissa.

I used a nike plus until I lost the little white thing that goes in my iPod. Now I just load a song set that is timed to my run. I know what mile I need to be for each song. Of course, I'm only running a 5K..

I am thinking about getting a garman or something. Actually my phone has an app that does it now as well. I know that I'm going to have to do something at some point if I really want to bring my times down even more...

Barb and Melissa, I so admire your running. Even before my knee replacement, it wasn't something I was good at or enjoyed. Barb, I know the scale is only a tool and not a god, but sometimes that darn thing seems to rise up from the floor and smack me in the face! HA! That's why I keep it out of sight under the bed. I'm not writing down my food, but I'm doing 5&1 so it's almost preordained. When you were still on the 5&1 did you write down your food? Opinions, anyone?.

One more thing. For my trip to Washington State to see a friend the first week of June, I've decided to ship a bunch of Medifast food directly from the website to her house! No worries about squashing it in my luggage!.

Kitty.

P.s. I don't know if I will be able to ship anything ahead for my trip to Portugal later in June, even shipping it myself. I've emailed the person at the Portugal end to see if this is possible, if I can ship to her address...

Go.

Jan.

Go!!! To be so close. And you too.

Kitty.

I'm cheering you both on toward goal!!!.

Kitty, I had my knee "cleaned up." Lots of scar tissue from previous injuries and a previous repair attempt. Started PT yesterdy and gave back the CPM machine. Feeling really good. Just have to concentrate on walking normally. Still limping a bit..

Neena.

, you and me will both be traveling. We'll be each other's silent support staying OP and using the super nice fitness rooms at the hotels. I'll be in San Francisco for meetings Wed-Sun, then home Monday to work, then off to the "Bush" for 4 more days of work. Will stay in the health clinic there but can take some workout gear with me. Hopefully by the time I get back the snow will be mostly gone and I can get on my bike outdoors, knee permitting. And back in the pool.

Waving to the rest of the Crew!!!!.

Hi all! Back in the saddle again - Dh and I are finished with our regular travels and he may travel for work, but not me. Though my friend did snag some tickets to see Hugh Jackman in May in San Fran. so that will be pure pleasure, but at least it's a way off from now. It is absolutely wonderful just being home this weekend. Had theatre tickets last night and it was just the two of us, so a nice date night..

Just got home from JAN'S s and she is looking super great!! I had to pick up some groceries on the way home and I was still feeling so inspired and did a good healthy shopping with no mess ups. I'm doing 4 & 2 and I feel good, but the weight is not budging, so I hope I'll have a good nudge on the scale soon..

I have done a quick catch up on some of the recent posts and JAN showed me a great pic of MELISSA in her running mode and all I can say is GREAT JOB! and.

BARB - great job to you, too, you are a running machine, as well. Go get 'em..

Waving to all of my dear crew friends, I've missed you.

NEENA, BOBBI, CHRISTINE, SHERRY, KITTY and all of you guys - enjoy a sunny day (it's actually in the 80's today....Michigan weather is fickle, but this feels like it'll stay..
