My question is Medifast Diet phase one? Weight loss!? Many thanks for any answer or 2. Second question.. Other topics will be discussed that may not be appropriate for the easily offended.. |
I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the answer to your question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I find an good answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably know..

UGH I wish I weren't awake. It's only 6:30, and my alarm is set for 10AM. I actually woke up an hour ago, tossed and turned, and finally gave up (for a while). I was so hungry that I had to eat another Medifast meal, and I think that will help me get back to sleep... However, last week I had to do the same thing on Monday morning, and then my weight loss suffered on Tuesday morning. I'm wondering if those are correlated.
Good morning to Cindy, who's the first one up! I'll be taking that coffee... in a few hours. :P.. |
Claire.
- I'm happy to say I usually don't wake up hungry, however, I do go to bed hungry a lot but I think it's mental for me (I'm a night eater)... As long a you stay within 5 Medifast meals I don't think it should be a problem... Hope you can fall back to sleep.. I'm off to change and get on the elliptical... it's 6:30 and my son is awake... WHY?. Cindy.. |
Morning Cindy and Claire....
Pesach same'ach, Cindy!. I lived on LI when I was a wee one...My Dad's family is spread throughout NY. We lived in Lindenhurst.. Claire, I can't offer much help. I haven't woken up hungry (yet.).. |
Good morning.
Cindy. And. Claire. And. Keri. .. Claire. , I used to wake up and eat all the time. I felt like I had to, or I couldn't get back to sleep. When I started Medifast, I reassessed how I was eating and decided that habit was out the window. If I wake up hungry, I drink water, tell myself to suck it up, and go back to bed. I have sleep issues/insomnia, so this was a difficult decision and resulted in a few miserable nights, but I'm over it now, and can wake up and not eat. (I woke up five times last night because one of the cats was being a loud jerk, and didn't eat.). It is weigh in day for me and I'm down 1.4 pounds! I'm really close to goal, and already at the top end of healthy BMI, so every loss over 1 pound is awesome, and any loss at all is good. I really did not feel like I had lost anything, so seeing a drop of over a pound was a surprise.. Hope everyone has a good Monday!.. |
Morning.
Zoe. Hope your family function went well yesterday. Congrats on the weight drop! That is awesome.. Monday's are a weigh in day for me too. I am down -2.6! Yippee! Today also marks my first month on MF. So for my first month, I have lost a total of 15.5 pounds!.. |
Good morning, Tough Lovelies! Congratulations on all the losses! I am giving myself freedom from the scale this week because I know that if I see the ugly number that's bound to be there, I might just do something drastic. I don't like to think that way, but I do. I've been good through the stress and the pain so far, but these meds are notorious for making you hold onto water..
Grilling chicken yesterday was my official kick-off to nice weather. Nothing like the grill taste. Yes, mine was on top of bagged salad! And for coffee lovers, last night I made a vanilla pudding with cold coffee. It didn't look the least bit appealing, but it tasted great!. My little one has FunClub at the YMCA all week and today is our early day, so I'm off to get after it. See you all at the office!.. |
Morning all. Hugging the coffee pot and ready for the week. I have a presentation to do this week and present next week. Should be interesting...
Good morning all! Grats on the awesome losses so far this morning. I have been a ghost around these parts this weekend...caring for a puppy leaves very little time for leisure!.
The good news is, I found little Olive a new forever home. I am very excited. My friend of 15 years is going to take her. He is such a sweet, loving guy and I know Olive will be spoiled ROTTEN with him. I am definitely going to miss my little Olive...but I'm sure my baby (3 year old lab/pit mix) will be VERY thankful to have the house all to himself again. He's just a little jealous of her! Yesterday, he kept stealing her puppy toys and running around the house playing "keep away" with her. He's a good sport though...he lets her play pretty rough with him and he just takes it all in stride.. Well, I have a macroeconomics final coming up in 8 days so I am definitely going to be spending less time on the boards and more time with my nose in the books. I gave up some pretty valuable study time because of Olive...but she is definitely worth it!. I'll check back in later...thanks for the coffee!.. |
Good Morning Everyone,.
After a rough first day I am glad to say that week one has ended with my being completely OP and my weighing 20lbs less. Week 2 started today and I'm so ready for it. I can so do this.. ~Elita~.. |
Good Morning Tough Lovelies!.
Hi. Cindy. ! Thanks for the coffee! Have a good Passover with your family!. Hi KERI!!!!!!. Representing Long Island - I was born in Glen Cove! Partly raised in Douglaston. First marriage to someone from Centereach. And I hated Long Island!. WAY TO GO on the loss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Good Morning. Zoe. !!!! Congrats on the loss - great job!!!! Must feel so good being so close to goal. I'm jealous as all get out, but I'll be there someday!. Hi. Penny. !!!! Good choice not to weigh in - I think we should all get "pass" cards so we can skip a weigh in when we need to.. Hi. MT. !!!!!!!!!!. Good morning. Debra. !!!!! I LOVE OLIVE!!!!! Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of her and finding her a fabulous forever home. YOU ROCK!!!!!!. Hello and welcome. Elita. - 20 pounds on your first week? That's pretty extreme! Best wishes to you on your journey!. Waving Happy Monday to all I missed and all to follow. Has anyone seen my sunglasses? I can't find them anywhere and I swear, I have TWO pairs... Mondays just kill me no matter how happy I want to be on them!. Boss is back from vacation today until Wednesday afternoon, then he's out again. I'm having some white hot cocoa for breakfast in 9 minutes. But who's counting?. Much love to all,. Melissa.. |
Only because I started out with 30 pounds to lose! That's my story, I gain this 30 pounds, get mad about it, lose it, gain it back, get mad about it, lose it. I've been at goal over and over again, once with Medifast, many times with diet and exercise..
My challenge this time is to KEEP IT OFF. I've got to learn my body and feed it right, not just gain until I'm mad about it, then lose. It is terrible for my body.. This time, I'm spending my time on Medifast planning for my time post-Medifast. I have to beat this, I cannot do it for the rest of my life.. For me, goal is exciting, but I've been there before. What's really exciting is maintaining. I'm committed to making it this time... |
Welcome.
Ducati. !. Morning. Debra. And. MELISSA. !. Debra. ...so glad you were able to find Olive a forever home. What a sweet face she is! My heart melted when I saw her pics!. Melissa. Have a (tough)lovely day m'dear!. OK my dear Tough Lovelies! I need to skip out the door to work. I can view from work, I just can't respond. I'll try and keep up with all your collective exploits through out the day.. Hello, Good Morning and Happy Monday to all you west coast Lovelies that check in a bit later!.. |
Melissa,.
Yes it is quite a lot. However, I'm sure it is just water weight. However, my biggest problem with weight lose is that it's hard for me to start losing, but once I start it comes off regularly and fast. Not to worry though, it will slow down as I really start to lose fat.. Much Medifast Success ,. ~Elita~.. |
Good Monday Morning Lovelies!.
Cindy. - thanks for getting us started and for the coffee. Coffee... mmmmm..... Keri. - Grats on the loss!! Woot. Zoe. - Congrats on your loss too. You are getting close. Glad your IL dinner went well yesterday.. Debra. - So glad Olive found a good home!. Welcome. Ducati and Elita. !. Penny. - I agree on taking a pass for a week if you know it may not look good. You're a wise woman!. Melissa. - Good morning. Enjoy your white mocha drink.. MT. - Good luck on your presentation. Fun stuff there.. Hi to those who are posting while I'm typing and to those who are on their way here.. Mondays - Fun. Love Monday's at work. A little background: One of my assistant's only works Monday and Friday (I have Friday's off, so I only see her one day a week). Well, she happens to be the bosses wife. We get along quite well. However, to make life interesting at work, she and the boss are going through a divorce. Nothing like working with two people who are divorcing each other. Keep in mind, our company is very small. I have two bosses and two assistants. So there are 5 of us total.. Let the games begin... |
Hey guys-.
Just have to write this, you don't even have to read it, but it'll help me writing it. REALLY having problems with my new migraine meds. It's making it WORSE and it's a heart med so it's slowing DOWN my metabolism, making me dizzy every time I stand up, tired all the time, and (yep you guessed it) slowing down my weight loss. AND since it's a heart medication I can't stop taking it till my doc says and she's out till Wednesday. Tried calling the office twice now. If the on call doc does not get back to me, I'm calling the pharmacy to get off this AWFUL stuff.. Had to call into work crying this morning so at home in pain & frustrated, because of this I needed to write so you guys know, so I don't go off plan.. De- I have to thank you for the 'treat' message the other day, it's also my b-day tomorrow and your words kept me from doing something stuuuupid.. |
Wow,.
Cheri. That's a challenge! Yuck!. Amelie. - I'm so sorry you're going through this. Hopefully it will be resolved very soon. You know the truth is going off plan will not help this at all. Please hang in there and write here as often as you need to! Sending you lots of hugs!!!!!. Elita. - Hey, Medifast is an amazing program - keep going!. Melissa.. |
Morning peeps..
D-day for the hubs this morning. we have to be at the hospital at 8:45, so we'll take CC to school then head over. Going to be a long day. Need to make sure I'm well stocked with Medifast before I leave.. Need to go get my coffee.. Ameie - You REALLY need to make a call to your doctor IMMEDIATELY and get off that medication. There are other options out there. You do not have to take something that is making you miserable.. Waving to all on my way to get coffee. Did I mention that every single muscle in my body HURTS today?. Congrats to all the losers!.. |
Morning Tl's..
Thanks for the coffee.. Kiddos are on vacation this week. I took today off. Shopping and eating out today. 4/2 day planned. No Sludge!!!! I have my bars and pretzels packed.. Hope everyone has a great day... |
Good Morning Tough Lovelies!!.
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, and thanks,. Cindy. , for the coffee. It's delish!. Penny. - I love grilling season! We try and grill year round, but with all the snow we had this year I wasn't super ambitious on digging the path to the grill. But now... FLAME ON!. Debra. - Ohh I'm glad you found the little one a great home and I LOVE the name Olive! So adorable!. Cheri. - Small office + divorce... I don't envy you. Hopefully they can keep it cordial at the office, if not, be glad you only see her once a week. Good luck!. Amelie. - Feel better and get thee to the doctor!. De. - Good luck to the DH today!. I also think today is. LibertyGoddess. 's (Carolyn?) birthday today!! If so, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!. And waving a big hello to. Claire. ,. Keri,. Zoe. ,. MT. ,. Elita. ,. Melissa. And anyone else I may have missed!!. As for me, the scale FINALLY is moving!! I am SO excited! Let's hope it keeps it up. On a quasi related Medifast note and sorry for the TMI, but can we talk Medigas people? I experienced it a bit when I first started for about a month and then it dissipated and my body got used to everything. Now all of a sudden, the past 3 weeks or so... it's bad. Really bad! Like I don't want to be around myself and it's. Constant. !. I read a comment on a blog someone said as you get closer to goal this happens, any of you maintaining goal getters experience this? And conversely, which products have you guys found successful to combat the problem? I can't keep blaming the poor dog when she's not around!. Cheers,. Lisa.. |
Ugh... disaster has struck again! The dorm microwave is broken, so I'm eating shakes when there is SNOW ON THE GROUND (Why, God?). These two things are very, very annoying..
Hopefully some of you are having a better day so far!.. |
Good Morning all!.
I'm doing inventory this morning at work so I managed to sneak online for a quick peek at our thread.. De- Good luck to DH today! Hope all goes smoothly and quickly!. To everyone else-Have a great OP day! Can't stay online long or I'll get in trouble.. Weighed in this AM, down 1.5! I am thisclose to goal but I'm letting how I look detemine when I do T&M, not an actual number.. Tara.. |
Good morning all! Sunny and blue skies here in Portland. FINALLY!.
I hope you all have a lovely, on plan day... |
Morning! I can't say it's a good one so far, but it will be eventually!.
I've been MIA on here this weekend and here's why. I have an event Friday afternoon and evening and then a softball tourney Sat and Sun. Sat I was at the softball fields at 7am and didn't leave until 7pm (on my birthday!!!). My team played GREAT and was ranked #1 going into Sunday (out of 14 teams). Sunday I was back at 7am and didn't leave until 7pm again. Only Sunday someone replaced my players with look-alikes that made tooooooo many mistakes. Considering we are a young team in an older division, not too bad. But we got creamed (really we made so many mistakes we have. Never. Made before) to a coach I cannot stand. I wanted to beat his team so badly. ugh!. Anyway... my bday (Sat) was great, Sunday sucked, I'm sunburned, wind-blown, ate too many sunflower seeds and an swollen up like a balloon, lips are burned and chapped, dehydrated, and I have a headache. I have a softball tourney hangover.... My plan is to drink enough water to fill a kiddie pool (as soon as I finish my badly needed coffee)and I know I will feel better later!. Zoe, Keri, and Tara- Congrats on the loss!. MT- Hope your presentation goes well!. Debra- I'm so glad you found a home for Olive. She is soooo cute! I have a soft spot for pits. I had one about 10 years ago and he was the best dog I've ever owned.. Melissa- I can't find my subglasses either! Maybe yours are with mine somewhere.. Elita- Welcome! You are off to a great start!. Cheri- Your office Mondays sound interesting!. Amelie- ((hugs!)) I hope you get ahold of someone this morning.. De- Good luck to your DH and you.. Lisa- lol! It comes and goes for me. I think it's more of the bars and shakes that cause it.. Have a great OP day!. Deidra.. |
UPDATE- they are getting me off the medication, but it'll take 5 days to completely be off it. Talks are ensuing about trying something else..
Thank you ALL so much just for being there for me... |
Amelie,.
I am so sorry you are going through this. Being migraine prone myself I completely understand the pain you are in right now. But please, please if you cannot get in touch with your doctor then go straight to the emergency room. I know it's the last thing on your mind but if it continues to get worse you are going to need something to help you with the pain. Also, because of the continual light-headedness you do not want pass out. I do not want to overwhelm you but I'm speaking from experience and having been on many different medications for migraines I know what you are going through. ~Elita bka Ducati~.. |
Amelie - glad they're working on a plan..
De - please keep us posted about your hubs. Fingers crossed that all goes well. As for your pain, I hope you're not surprised after yesterday's performance!!!?!??. Congrats to all the big fat losers!!!. Today I have about a hundred resumes I need to sift through, for hiring a partial replacement for myself at my job. I am giddy with excitement to be out of here. We've been doing some once-a-week furlough days, and I don't know if that will continue. So at the most I have 10 more work days here, but it could be just 8. Including today. Squeeeeeee!!!!!. I'm up a pound, finally! This is going to sound weird, but I was starting to wonder if it was possible for me to eat enough L&G to push myself back above 135. I've been 133-135 no matter what I ate, for over 7 weeks. Today 136. I should bleed in the next day or two, and I'm adjusting my eating back a scootch. I have this perverse feeling of comfort from having found a boundary - like a teenager whose parents won't let them go to that party that they know will be more out of hand than is really safe. I'm probably crazy, but anyway, I feel good about finding a limit and good about reducing my intake slightly.. Good morning!.. |
Amelie,.
Great news. Sorry my original post posted after your update. But I am so happy they are taking you off of that awful medication. Please take care of yourself and take it easy while coming off the medication.. Wellness To You,. ~Elita bka Ducati~.. |
Elita, I love your avatar. Very powerful message!.
De, luck with DH, keep us up to date.. Amelie, glad you're off the meds. Sending virtual. Your way until you feel better.. I've been on steriods for a week now and I'm at that uncontrollable eat everything blow up like a puffer fish stage. Good thing is I'm too busy to eat as my body would like and I don't have the junk in the house so pft to steriods. Just hate how they make me feel. Bleh. But I'm already feeling better (which is why I'm on them) and it's all good. I have blown up a few pounds, but nothing I'm going to sweat about yet. We'll see where I am when I'm off the meds... |
De.
, fingers crossed surgery goes smoothly. You're sore? I wonder why? ALL YOU DID WAS SIT AROUND YESTERDAY! Hmmph.. Amelie. , so sorry for the meds problems. Hopefully things get better with your noggin soon.. Freya. , I can totally relate to being happy to find your boundary. What an interesting science project transition is.. Elita. , Welcome!! This is a great group to be involved in.. Sassy. , hooray for sun. I love Portland in this weather. Dogs are happily going to be able to run around the baseball field today. No games and the gates are unlocked. Yippee!!.. |
I need you guys to stop talking about how nice the weather is in your city... I'm wearing four layers and I'm still extremely frigid in my room. And I left some stuff up the hill (grrr) and I'm not willing to go out and get it because it's so gross outside.....
MT, I am on Day 4 of steroids and have that puffy feeling. I want to eat and eat. I had a shake cake at lunch for the first time in forever because I was craving something in that chewy, bready texture. Well, I promptly got a case of raging hiccups and I hope to kick them before my doctor's appointment...
Morning ladies.
Claire - no help, i'm like cindy and a late night eater. late at night i'll do my SF jello or a pickle - can't imagine either of those sound good at 6:30am. but maybe?. Debra - you are wonderful - thanks for saving that little pup. I completely believe in Karma, hope you get a nice little kickback on your good deeds.. Grats to all our losers. Cheri -. Love you keep your sense of humor about the situation! that's rough but i'm also assuming if no one is dead, that you are the queen of juggling.. De - good luck to your hubby today.. Mia - Have fun shopping. let us know what you get. I like living vacariously through others...just put myself on a tight budget.. Freya - am I getting this right....they laid you off and are making you interview your own replacement? um I think I hate your bosses.. Looks like rain today - working safely from home. my dog finally embraced his lab side and swam like a maniac this weekend - into the SF bay, I was using the "whip it" and everything. I FINALLY found a way to tire him out.. Xo - teri.. |
Claire.
, I would go with chicken broth or a small amount of protein if you have to have something. However, hunger really won't kill you and I have found I can make it go away enough to go back to sleep by slugging some water. If you are close to high end of carb consumption, an extra meal can kick you out of ketosis. Ignore all of this if you are not having an extra Medifast meal, but simply starting early. I wasn't clear on that... |
I wish I could offer some advice, but I was one of the lucky ones that never experienced the Medi-Gas. I actually did not have many of the symptoms we all hear about all the time. I'm not sure why, but I'm sure grateful..
De - Prayers sent for John and you today.. Penny - I agree, stay off the scale til you get straightened out.. Teri - Tired doggie sounds good for you, right now. Glad you found a way.. Amelie - Sorry {{{hugs}}}. Freya - You crack me UP!. Deidra - sorry for the burn and happy belated Birfff day.. Tara - Right attitude, it is NOT all about the numbers. They are not the whole, nor the true, story.. Spring break seems to go on forever, doesn't it? For those who are just now getting it off, enjoy, and for those who have already experienced it, hold the memories close.. Slw - Hi chickie!. Waving HIYAS to any and all I missed.. Have I said how good it is to be home? Well it is!.. |
Actually, I ended up technically finishing late, since it was my fourth Medifast meal. I felt really sick when I went to bed last night, so wasn't able to eat an Medifast meal. I'm positive that's why I woke up due to the hunger because I hadn't eaten enough the day before. So, I'm counting it as part of yesterday rather than today...
Hey Teri! It's not as bad as it sounds. I could have campaigned to keep this job. Really, all I would have had to do was say "I have a plan for turning this around, making up for the loss of that account. Here's what we do and who we lay off..." But I didn't want to rally and lead the charge again - I've already rescued this company enough. And I didn't want to pick anyone else to get laid off. I was ready to go..
I'm not really being replaced. It's a part-time person doing a subset of my job. It's what they can afford after ditching our entire custom product line. It's a good thing, and I don't mind doing it. Well, I don't mind the helping replace me part. Sifting through the stack of garbage resumes is an unpleasant chore... |
I forgot to ask yesterdaysomeone had a zucchini lasagna recipe? Could I have that?.
And SLW- I may be asking you questions about zucchini chips & radish fries.. |
Freya - I hate your bosses less now..
I was like - holy crap that is ballsy of them. glad it's on your terms!.. |
I'm sneaking in during my conference period. I'm spending the day with 3rd graders. They are at the absolute bottom of my comfort zone, but I do love how affectionate they are toward me..
I had Medifast chili for lunch and am SO full!. Congrats to all our losers... |
Ugh... someone broke the dorm microwave, and I tried to make the apple cinnamon oatmeal on the stove. Had too much water, so I added another oatmeal packet to make two meals. Now it's gross and still totally lumpy... and I get to eat more of it later today! Joy, oh joy..
Sigh. This is just a sucky day... |
Jasmine - sounds fun! I love that everytime you go in - no matter what age/grade the kids are you always seem to be like "the kids are so great" I love that..
Makes me so excited (and sad at the same time) to watch vivian grow up and go to school... |
Claire lol - my advice go back to bed until tomorrow - jk. things can only get better...
So true! But no, I'm not going to bed. That would probably make my sleep issues even worse. :P I'm just going to be eating cold oatmeal later... and then trekking out into the snow to get my missing items... SIGH!..
MT,.
Thanks. The picture is actually Storm of the X-Men. I'm such a HUGE fan of comic books and comic book heros. But yes the message is very powerful. It just kinda draws your attention.. ~Elita bka Ducati~.. |
De said that, but you can probably find in on the Recipe section here. Just search for it...
I know De has a recipe for lasagna. De...can you please post? I want to try to break out of my comfort zone..
Does anyone have any good "summer MF" go-to meals? I've been eating soups consistently because they are filling and taste good in the colder months. But now that summer is around the corner, I don't think the soup will feel as good to me. Any suggestions?. Claire, that sucks the azz fantastic. I remember trying to use dorm stuff to make food. It never went well for me. Or smelled well for others.. Freya...you can come work in Minneapolis. We could have much fun!.. |
Hooray for fun! Only... no. Not Minneapolis. I live in Seattle!!!..
Calirie I was reading this and thought where does this poor girl live that it's still snowing. Then I saw. Michigan. I should have known. I'm from Kalamazoo. Oh how I remember April snow storms!..
Hello everyone! I'm new here, and I think I read somewhere that I should wait until I'm OP for a week, but rules are made to be broken, right?.
I'm only on day 4, but have lost 5 pounds so far, surprisingly. Didn't expect it to go down again this a.m., but it did. I think it will even out and slow down, but this is a fun start! I'm committed this time to lose this weight and keep it OFF for life. I'm so inspired by you all, and especially like the quote about Medifast is hard, FAT is hard, choose your hard. GREAT quote - and so true! I suffer from metabolic syndrome, and am hoping that the weight loss will help with those symptoms. Thanks for all the inspiring stories and I was really glad to hear someone else has had problems with the gas. Will this eventually do me in? Should I just force myself to eat the last one?.. |
Cindy.
Thanks for starting us off again. I meant to ask you before. You mentioned your son (I think) doing lax is it a sport or something? Im probably missing something very obvious.. Zoe. CONGRATS!! On your 1.4! So, is your DSO a skinny little thing who can eat anything she wants? Im always impressed by how you accommodate her eating needs and it doesnt seem to bother you. By the way, I hear you loud and clear about the keep it off part. I suspect Im going to need to follow a food plan the rest of my life. Whether it is regular food or a combination of Medifast and regular food, I just think structure may be what will work for me. Like, through giving up my control to MF, Ive gained control. If I try to get control in maintenance, I have a feeling I will just end up losing it. Id love your thoughts on this.. Any vets want to chime in on this too?. Keri. AWESOME 2.6!!. Debra. So glad you were able to find sweet Olive a loving home.. Ducati. !! 20 Frickin Pounds in on week!?!?! Wowser. Way to go!. Morning. Melissa. Youre selling me on the white hot cocoa. Now I cant remember how to make it!. Amelie. Hang in there hon. Sounds like youre making some progress today. Junk food wont help. Sticking to your Medifast plan even if you end up needing to do 4&2 or something, is (I believe) the best thing you can do for your migraines, nutritionally speaking.. De. All the best with your DHs surgery today!. Claire. What about bars, puffs, and pretzels? Got any of that?. Tara. CONGRATS! 1.5 IS amazing so close to goal.. Freya. Weird as it may sound, Im glad (??) you found your boundary!. Lisa. No experience with medi-gas. In fact I used to have gas all the time, and Medifast seems to have fixed that problem for me.. Susan. The zucchini chips were awesome. I didnt do the turnip, because the z-chips sounded so good. And they WERE! Thanks!. Hey. Chatty. I didnt say it yet but it is good to have you home. Now please remind me where you were? Vacation, wasnt it?. Had a very munchy feeling evening, but made do with SF jell-o. I keep wondering if the hunger was because I had gone to the gym. Wasnt even an intense workout. Oh well. Hoping to day is a hunger-free, munchy-free day!. I miss Anna. Ready for her to get home.. HUGGLES!.. |
Welcome TaylorBaby and congrats on your 5 pounds in 4 days. Please do read the opening post on our daily thread. It sets up the ground rules. If you're going to be part of this group, then you have to be OP 100% - and that means you eat ALL 5 Medifast meals - no exceptions. If you want to customize the program there are lots of groups that allow that. De can tell you all about it, right De? hehe.
Also, a ground rule we don't seem to have in our opening post, but we don't give specific names of items that are off plan. We just call them all SLUDGE. This prevents anyone in the group from getting triggered by the mention of a food or foods.. If you want to do the program 100% this is the place to be! WELCOME!.. |
Hello to the Tough Love Club. I've been MFasting since January, and I've had great success so far. I wasn't sure how to go about finding a group where I would fit, but as I near my goal, I would love the added support and a no-nonsense approach that Tough Love seems to have. My pal Chatty hasn't led me wrong so far, so... here I am, can I join in?..
Oh and P.S. I promise to be 100% OP and I shall never mention the names of off plan items that hurt our health in the first place! Is there a secret handshake or initiation?..
Yes, she sure is. 5'6", 119 lbs, defined muscles, and not a drop of fat anywhere. She has the opposite problem from me- she needs to eat a lot to maintain weight or gets dangerously thin and ill. I bake a lot of treats and cook and freeze a lot of meals that are heavy on carbs, fat, and protein. She eats a few hundred calories every 2.5-3 hours. It is crazy.
As for what I will do, I'm spending time now learning go-to recipes that are low carb. I plan to keep up the medifast way of eating (many small meals) but will replace all this space food with whole, unprocessed foods. I plan on sticking around the boards once I hit maintenance and talking about what works for me.. This will have to be a lifelong life change. I've proven time and again that what I have done in the past does NOT work, so I need to do things differently (and hopefully correctly) this time. I always hit goal and then think somehow I'm magically immune to weight gain. WTH?. I do well on Medifast because it is so strict, so regimented. Off on my own, I fall apart, and make terrible choices. I have to translate this strictness into my new daily forever plan. I quit smoking, I quit drinking, I can quit eating like a chump too... |

Oh boy Betsy is in da house..
Pick up the wrappers and act normal. Nah normal would be too boring, just be OnPlan & have fun.. Taylor - welcome.. Tkd - I was on my 40th wedding anniversary dream trip. We did a couple weeks cruising the Mediterranean, then used a lovely hotel on the Via Veneto in Rome for the final 2 weeks... |
Betsy.
, welcome!!! Glad Chatters suggested you come in here. It's a great group of people (I would say women, but I keep hoping Glenn will show back up) and you will fit right in. I know you know the rules, so not going to say a word except WELCOME. No hazing..I asked for a little, but never got any!! Hmmph.... Zoe. , can we just smack your DSO a tiny bit? Just a little. We'll be sneaky so she will think it's a figment of her imagination. As far as your after plan..that is exactly my plan. Still haven't figured out a definite vegetarian or not plan. I think for a good while, it will be high quality meats sourced from places I trust, sustainable seafood and a whole lotta veggies... |
Penny, interesting you should mention hiccups. I've been getting them a lot since on the steroids. What's up with that?.
Chatty, be careful with the word "normal" around here... |
We're home. Surgery went well Hubs now has a new appreciation of my 2 C-sections <snicker> No way I can get caught up. Looks like we may have some newbies - Welcome. I'll get to know you as we move forward..
I was supposed to work while I was waiting, but my (ahem) wonderful DH left the keys in his pants pocket and my computer was in the car, so now I get to play makeup! Arrrgggghhh!!!.. |
De - glad to hear the surgery went well! Hopefully he has a quick recovery. And even still, I don't think men will ever fully understand childbirth haha!.
Thanks everyone for the advice before... I guess I'll have to do some good ol' regular research which products are better LOL... |
De.
- Glad his surgery went well!. Chatty. - I'm jealous, your trip sounds amazing! I will go ahead and put the request in with my DH that I want to go to Rome on our 40th anniversary...he still has 28 years to save for it!. Popping in and out to catch up on posts.. Grats to the losers, welcome to the newbies!. I'm about to head home and see our little mascot so I doubt I'll be posting again tonight. She's is quite stealthy at pottying when you least suspect it so she gets my undivided attention. Somehow she magically pee'd on the carpet yesterday in the MIDDLE of a play session with my dog. I was watching her the whole time, never saw her stop moving, but when they moved from the spot they were wrestling in there was a pee puddle...gah! lol... |
De good news and I hope John recovers quickly..
The Ciubhouse is very different without you... |
Debra - You got that right about saving for it. We have been saving and planning for this trip for a very long time..
Good going with the pup... |
Welcome to all the newbies!.
De, so glad the surgery went well and is now over.. My trip to the neurosurgeon went well. There's no better order for THOSE words to come out in, huh? We are starting treatment conservatively for now and will start with a steroid injection followed by an EMG on Wednesday. Then, Thursday, I will go in and speak to a physical therapist to see what I can do on that end. The surgeon thought it was odd that, although these cramps are classic to an L5 nerve impingement, they don't happen when I am up and around, but rather when I am lying in bed or sitting with my legs extended. I guess I'm just special... |
De.
, glad it went well. Here's to a quick recovery.. Penny. , I have had a back surgery due to discs and 2 neck surgery, so I am well versed in trying very hard in avoiding surgery. I had my lower back done 25 years ago. I was told I would have to do it again possibly in ten or so years. I think I live with stiffness, numbness and pain that most people wouldn't, but it doesn't stop me from doing anything. I do have to say it's probably close to time to re-visit the neurosurgeon. I had great results quite a while back from steroid injections. It was like Keri waved her magic wand... |
Well, get ready to fire that beyotch up, Keri, cuz I need ya, sister! I remember this surgeon telling me I'd likely wake up pain-free back in '05... and I pretty much did! I had my surgery at 11, woke up at 2 and was walking the halls with Marc and Emma at 5. I was also told I'd probably need more surgery at some point. I hope this isn't that point. I've got a cruise ship to rock in a couple of months!..
AND......................Rogues on a cruise ship .....................there WILL be some Major Rocking going on!..
Where is Keri anyway?.
Slw - Had no idea you had undergone such stuff. Or if I did know it,I forgot... |
Penny, so glad to hear that. Steroid injections sounds a bazillion times better than surgery. Hope that he keeps singing that tune...
Thanks Chatty & Freya... I think I'm less askeert of the surgery because I've been there; done that. A big honking needle in my back - haven't done that since prepping for a c-section in 2003! But I'm sure this is nowhere near as extreme. He said it's done while being guided by an x-ray. I trust him and his staff 10000%, so that helps...
Chatty.
, I rarely talk about the neck and back stuff because it's mind over matter sometimes. I really do everything I want though.. Penny. , I was skeert of the needle too. In fact, I went overboard with fright and they had to stop. Again, mind over matter. I calmed down and I have to say, it was nothing. The relief was so amazing. I would do it again in a heartbeat... |
Freya.
Have you thought about this yet? When you get a new job, you will go in as a thin person!! they won't think of you as a fat person or formerly fat person, you will just be normal! It should be interesting to see how people will interact with you. Even if you tell them your history, they won't have known you then, so it won't be part of your identity to them.. Also, a whole new environment, with new people, should help you maintain your fabulous weight loss; I have found it is easier to keep up with changes you are trying to make when not surrounded by the same environment, with some even subconscious cues, and also, some people who are, not necessarily resentful, but who don't have the same comfort level with you that they had before, and so may be secretly wishing for you to fail, due to their own problems. Not to mention those more obviously resentful. So good luck with the new challenge; I feel you will be a great success... |
Thank you, Ianthe! I do love meeting new people and getting to have a new slate. But it sounds like you have a terrible work environment if you have all that stuff coming at you!!! Everyone here has been amazing and supportive of my transformation..
Now, there. Are. Some classmates who've gone a little green around the edges..... |

De.
And. Penny. , glad things went well.. I just got back from the redo at the eye doctor with a markedly different prescription. They sent me to the eye doctor who usually does the kids appointments', guess they figured he wouldn't tick me off. He was pretty wonderful, as were the tech and the assistant. I'm going to call tomorrow and tell the office manager that they were great. The rapid vision loss probably. Is. A result of my long time use of muscle relaxers and other meds, my eyes have all the signs of health, but aren't focusing like they should. A stronger prescription will help. That's all I needed, someone to listen, answer my questions, and let me know if something was genuinely wrong!. Also, it was funny because I was 100% nice to everyone, and they were all tiptoeing around because I guess the office manager told them to be on their A game. I'm not mean to people who don't deserve it, hell, I wasn't even mean to the ones last week who more than deserved it!. Gotta go though, my eyes are dilated and everything up close is a blur... |
Hi everyone!.
Tired fly by - work's over, but I have to walk Sarge at 8p, so I can't fall apart quite yet!. De. So glad your dh's surgery was successful - I hope he heals up quickly!. Tara. Great job on the loss!!!. Happy delated Birthday. Deidra. ! Oh, and look in the downstairs bathroom, that's where I found my sunglasses!. Hi. Lisa. - lately I've been eating mostly shakes and bars... the medigas is ridiculously bad. Extremely embarrassing at work! I will definitely change things up tomorrow. YUCK!. Hi. Tkd. ! White hot cocoa: I use the vanilla appetite suppression shake with a drop of vanilla extract and a cup of water and nuke for 1.5 minutes... YUM!. Hi and welcome to all Newbies!!!. Penny. - I hope the shots work, let us know how it goes!. Zoe. - you can stab your DSO with her own sludge, just please, don't use a RUSTY fork! Penny has embedded that image in my brain and I can't make it leave!!!! So glad that the 2nd eye dr worked out. Sometimes you need to jump and down. I only do it when I absolutely have to - then watch out. If done the right way, it works - sounds like it really did for you!!!!. I need some herbal tea... |
Woo Hoo for De and DH to be home safe and sound. Here's to a speedy recovery!.
Chatty - 40th? Did you get married when you were four? Sounds like a wonderful heavenly trip. Will you post pics?. Zoe - Awesome news about a good eye appointment. Will look forward to hearing how you're doing once your eyes aren't dilated. Yup, I figured that had to be what was going on with your DSO. I call them "stick people." My hairdresser is a stick woman, and my son's girlfriend is too. They eat tons of total junk and have trouble keeping their weight on. Could we please bottle that gene? If someone isn't studying those folks, they darn sure should.. Knitty thanks for letting me know LAX = Lacrosse! Wow. Whoda thunk it? Obviously we must not play a lot of Lacrosse in Oklahoma. LOL Of course my boys do taekwondo - thus the TKD in my name. Will remember LAX forever now.. Welcome BetsyBoo!. Melissa - wow that's not too complicated. I think even *I* can make white hot cocoa!. I've been working from home today - had a four hour conference call and didn't want to sit in the office the whole time. Nice to not have to get dressed and go in. I could get used to working from home... |
Home from school, now off to watch DS play a baseball game. We'll be in late. Hope you all have a fantastic evening!..

Here's the sl*tty birthday red dress! And me, showing off my super power of always blinking for the picture...
Freya, you look ravishing! Fabulous birthday dress!!!!! That's the way to celebrate..
Melissa.. |
Aaaaand we're not going to the game after all. DS was complaining of a stomachache that I figured he'd get over as soon as he ate and got moving. NotSoMuch - he's also running a fever so there's no game for us tonight..
Freya. , that is one HAWT dress!.. |
