Quick question... Need help with boxed lunch ideas on the Medifast Diet? Thanks in advance for any comment. Another question I got... I bought one of those taco kits for the family and I was planning to have a taco salad (no shell). I looked at the dietitian board for recommendations concerning Taco Seasoning. And, the results varied from 3/4 teaspoon to 2 teaspoons depending on brands etc. |

I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I find an anything. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably can help you..

I usually cook b/s chicken breast in the crockpot with a jar of salsa as my taco filling..
Once the chicken is done, I remove it from the salsa/liquid and shred the chicken. It retains a lot of flavor from the salsa.. Since probably 99% of the salsa goes down the drain, I'm assuming this is OP, but I am not sure since I don't exactly know what the chicken absorbs from the salsa and what it doesn't... |

I use Mrs. Dash Fiesta Lime on ground turkey for my taco salads. Although the Fiesta Lime is still going to have a carb or two, it has zero sodium. The amount of sodium in a lot of the packaged spice mixes is almost unbelievable...

I hear about a lot of people using taco seasonings and every time I look at the back of a packet, I find either too much sodium, sugar (carbs) or corn flower (carbs). I just stay away from them and use Mrs Dash. I also make my own salsa with fire roasted tomatoes, canned fire roasted jalapenos (I like lots of heat) and tobasco. That way I know EXACTLY what I am getting and I avoid any onions. Cheaper than salsa too and fewer carbs and sodium than Rotel. Sometimes I throw in some tobasco...

I forgot to add that, last time I did this, I used two cans of rotel instead of a jar of salsa..
As someone said above me, that helped me make sure I wasn't adding additional sugar or onions. It was just tomatoes and green chiles and, in fact, I think I liked it better than the salsa!.. |

Do you have the nutrition from the can? I went on the website and it shows 169 calories!! Can't possibly be right!..

De, like with the salsa in my first post, I remove the chicken from the rotel/liquid and shred it alone. 99% of the rotel goes down the drain. So even if it has 169 calories, I'm not eating them...

Sparkpeople.com says there are only 50 calories in an entire can. That seems more accurate..
On the Rotel website itself, it looked as if every single product had the same NI. I think that is probably a website error... |
