How was your first day? I was a bit hungry but drinking crystal light helped. I know plain water would have been better but I love the Orange Sunrise - easy to get a whole bottle of water down when I add a packet...

Hi Lynn! - yesterday was my first day and it was okay ... today I was hungrier. I also find that I become really aware, when I first start a diet like this, that I think of food when I'm bored or needy. I expect that tomorrow will also be difficult and then by day 4, hopefully ketosis will set in and I won't feel as hungry. Tons of water helps ... I put a drop of grapefruit oil in mine..

Hi Maria - I guess we.

Wish.

We felt stuffed..

I'm sure you're doing it right, but I guess you could check the guidelines again. I think eating 6 times a day seems like a lot at first even though the calories are restricted...

Hey! I just started Monday. Trying to figure out this whole discussion board thing. I was looking for support for newbies like me..

I'm hoping to lose as much weight as possible by May 27th, my oldest son's high school graduation. I don't want to be worried about how I look in all the photos, instead of concentrating on the accomplishment of my son graduating with honors..

I've been doing well. I HATE the scrambled eggs..

Can we use salt? LOL I haven't been. It's only day 3, but I feel good about sticking with this. I AM feeling full eating so often..

Good Luck to all of US!..

I am excited there are alot of us starting this week and glad I found this discussion board. I have had some problems getting the powder to disolve and have been looking for tips. I had the blueberry oatmeal this morning which was tolerable. The hot cocoa was supposed to be my 2nd Medifast meal but it didnt disolve right. The taste was good but I couldnt handle all the powder chunks so I dumped it out and tried the cream of broccoli soup which did the same thing...clumped up. I got frustrated but didn't give up, I just went and got a bar which was very yummy.

I am also looking for friends and support on this site and welcome any advice and support. I find that I am feeling very full and am having no problem with hunger. I have been wanting to eat somethings just because I want to taste them but have resisted and recognized the fact that I'm not hungry at all I just want to eat simply for the sake of eating. The food I have wanted to eat has been healthy but still off plan. I have a bag of oranges I got for my kids that is screaming my name.

Anyway, Good luck everyone! I can't wait to see how we all do after our first week...

I started yesterday, 2/8/11. Yesterday was not bad at all until about 7 pm and that is when the "hunger pains" kicked in, along with a major headache. Today has been OK, but still definately struggling with hunger. I just had the chicken and wild rice soup and it was very good. I just keep telling myself this is going to get easier after the first week. I CAN do this.

My parents have lots of health problems that I am inheriting one by one and I want to prevent myself from having the problems they are having. This is my first attempt at any major weight loss. I have been putting it off because I am one of those that does it all or none. Good Luck to each of you and hope to see everyone's progress!..

Right after I had my last meal which was the bannana creme shake I got a instant headache a headache that has not gone away and still with me today. I read where headaches may come on, but can anyone please tell me how long these headaches should last. My headache today was not as bad as yesterday, so I hoping it's on it's way to going away completely. Any advise??..

I started Medifast on monday. I also had a headache after my last meal on the first day...also it felt like all the aches and pains I had had came back. Yesterday I felt tired and today I woke up feeling better then I had in months????.

The food seems to dissolve better when you start with really cold water, but I had the same reaction with the cocoa. It will be awhile before I try that again but I will..

I keep telling myself that the food might not be great but it is good and it has all of the nutrition needed in a day..

Good luck everyone!..

KC: I do have knee and back problems, but I've been having those for a few months now. I'm hoping taking some of the weight off will help with that..

MyMedifast: What do you mean, you can't eat snacks? What situations are you in, and why can't you have a bar (or a shake, disguised in a thermos)?..

Hi everyone! I just found this page and am excited to meet you all! I started Medifast on February 7th. So far it's been OK. I have killer headaches and I wish they would go away. I really like most of the food, but the cheese puffs are awful. Does anyone have any ideas on getting the hot drinks to dissolve correctly? I've tried the chai and hot chocolate, and no matter what they get chunky. I am excited to see if this program really works.

Use cold water to start and then I stir the hot cocoa with a fork, microwave and stir again. I make my shakes in my blender with ice and my pudding in my kitchenaid (usually 4 pkgs at a time so I can take them to work with me) and divide them into small storage containers to keep in the refrigerator. The soups are best if you soak them first in cold water; I mix in water in morning and by the time lunch rolls around, it's ready to heat. A bit of boullion is great in the chicken noodle, a bit of hot sauce in the chilli and stew. You will find what works for you. The headaches will subside, just take some aspirin to get through...

THe headaches will go away, and I am on day 5 and cannot believe I am not hungry! Usually day 3 of any diet is my failure point, so I am feeling good about this..

So far I like the banana pudding, dutch shakes, apple oatmeal and parmesean puffs.

I choked down the swiss mocha and vanilla shakes and didnt even order the eggs (the thought of them reminded me of those nasty eggs they feed you at summer camp).

I ruined my first 2 pancakes, but now have them figured out...

Best of luck to all of you new starters. The program does work and you will see a tremendous amount of support and motivation here on the boards..

If you can't tolerate something check out the recipes here on the boards..

I mix my hot drinks 1/2 and 1/2 with my morning coffee (the chai also blends well with hot tea)..

I mix a little salsa with my chili to give it a little more taste. If you don't like the eggs try them in the fry pan (sprayed with Pam) and add a little salsa..

I absolutely hated the oatmeal until I found the muffin recipe below:.

1 pkg. Medifast Oatmeal (any flavor).

1/4tsp. Baking Soda.

1/8tsp. Baking powder.

Spices: Cinnamon, nutmeg, whatever you like.

1-2 pkts splenda (optional but recommended).

MIX DRY INGREDIENTS.

ADD:.

Ina a 1 cup measure,.

Cup water.

1tsp. white vinegar.

1 tsp. vanilla.

Mix. Batter will be stiff, dont overmix..

Preheat oven to 350. Use foil cupcake holders sprayed lightly. Makes 3 cupcakes. You can do 4 packets of oatmeal and increase all ingredients accordingly to make 12. Drop by spoonful into foil.Dont try to even out batterok if it is lumpy..

For a treat, cut up a Medifast chocolate bar into small pieces and put 1-3 small pieces on each muffin..

Bake 10-15 minutes. Use a toothpick to test for doneness..

Most important *don't give up!* - ask for help...

I started the program on Sunday, Feb 6. Had only one headache, but thought nothing of it since I am usually stressed at the end of the day anyway. I am having a problem with hunger. I work in foodservice distribution and am constantly surrounded by food. Customers order food, we deliver food, I am a buyer for commercial frozen food. I have lost 4 lbs, but am not sure what to do to stave off hunger and cravings.

So far it has recommended only shakes, so I have had those for all of my meals. I am concerned that by going to other foods, the weight loss progress may be affected. Has anyone else had these issues?..

Hey ladies. I've been on the program now for about 3 months and I thought I would answer some of your questions on here..

The eggs are a staple for me every morning. I LOVE them. I cook them in a pan about 1/8 tsp olive oil. The key is to let them soak in the water for about 10 minutes. They thicken up and dissolve, NEVER MICROWAVE them!! I also add some tapatio and a little salt and pepper. You can use salt on the program, just try not to make a habit of it..

The Soups - I love the soups. I eat either the chicken noodle, chili, or broccoli soup everyday. What I do is mix hot water with them and then let them soak for 1 hour. Just be careful if you use your shaker jar this way or it will end up everywhere. Slowly open the lid!!.

I also add hot sauce to all the soups and chili..

The headaches - They do go away. Some tricks some people do is have some chicken or beef broth, the salt in them helps with the headaches. This is considered a condiment. Also an optional snack of a pickle spear or too can help those annoying headaches....

Water, Water, Water. try to get in at least 64oz. I drink water until I am going pee every 15 minutes, then I drink some more. I try to drink half my weight in water or around 100oz a day. I notice bigger losses the next day when I do this. Try to drink plain water and don't count sodas or coffee as ounces of water!!.

Hope this helps... I am starting to fit in some of my 'old' pregnancy clothes and it feels so good, it is such motivation to keep on going. If you ever need to talk or need advice add me as a friend. I'm happy to help if I can!!..

Hi Everyone. It is now day 6 and I feel better waking up then I have in a very long time. Was I starving my body of what it needed when I was eating around 2000 calories a day? My ankles, knees, hips and lower back are not screaming when I get out of bed. Also my wrists and finger joints feel so much better!.

The food is good. Can't do the soups (I have tried 3 flavors) but I really like the eggs! Isn't it funny how different people are. Also I only really like the lemon bars, but I am going to keep trying the stuff I don't like so much because I have a feeling my taste buds are going to change..

Also am wondering if I should buy a new scale because the one I have is saying I have lost over 7 pds and am having trouble accepting it..

So I am going to hold off until Friday to do my official weekly. The only time I got hungry was when I took my dog for a walk this afternoon. But when I got back to the house it was time for my afternoon Medifast meal anyway.

I started last Friday. I was a little hesitant because I thought the weekend would be a hard time to start... but I didn't want to wait. It was pretty good...no major issues and learned a couple valuable lessons -.

Run errands after a meal..

Bring bars with you..

Find a weekend project to stay occupied.

Bring a buddy to the grocery store with you..

I can't help but weight every day... but it's something I've always done. I'm on Day 4 and am down 4 lbs. I'm drinking about twice the recommended water amount but have resisted the urge to hop on the treadmill until my body adjusts..

Hope everyone is doing well!..

Hello everyone ... I lost 7 pounds my first week recommitted to Medifast and I am happy with that. I have been struggling however. The weekends are much harder for me to stay completely OP ... my husband is a distraction and occasionally tempts me off plan..

It's hard to resist sometimes. Yesterday was hard because my 4 year old developed a fever and an earache ... these kind of stresses mess with my resolve to stay OP. (When I go off plan it's usually a glass of wine..

).

I think that in a way I learn more from making a mistake and then not getting completely derailed and getting right back on plan, than if I stayed absolutely OP all the time ... at least in these beginning weeks. BUT that said, I am determined to have a completely OP day today ... just taking it one day at a time ... that's all I can do...

Day 4 and I am still hungry all the time. I try to find things to do but I still cannot get out of my head that my stomach is growling. I am definately busy with 3 boys, 5, 4, and 5 months so I am hoping this goes away. Trying to lose that baby weight and more. Before the baby I did optifast and lost 60 lbs, but never reached my goal. I had to stop for the baby.

So far the scale shows no weight loss...could use some words of encouragement...

YEA for all of the losses so far!!.

Lyre- I know what you mean about the wine. When I am with friends, it seems that wine is always involved. I am trying to limit those interactions right now!.

I had my first "official" weigh in today and only lost 3.8. I tried to talk about it with my husband but he said that I should be very happy with 3.8 pounds in a week. I just was expecting more. I would have been happy with 5. I've done Medifast before and lost 8 in the first week, I think. The only thing I can think of was for two days in a row (Sun.

On Sunday I simply was so busy I missed that afternoon meal and then yesterday I just wasn't hungry. I think I read somewhere that you aren't supposed to miss because your body thinks it is in starvation mode? I was not hungry at all. I am not sure if that had anything to do with it. I just am not getting why my loss was lower than I thought it would be. I will stop whining now..

Have a wonderful on program day!..

I've been on since Thursday, 2/10. I'm STILL hungry all the time, and it's STILL very hard, but I've been consistently losing weight-a pound a day!.

My biggest cravings are: chips, french bread, cheese, and croissants! Mmmm. Lol...

Just checking in with everyone. I've lost 14 lbs. so far! I'm elated, overjoyed, and happy beyond words. I know this is working. I also know the weightloss will slow as I enter my 3rd week this coming Monday, but I'm so glad to have finally found a plan that works! I can't wait to add exercise to my routine!.

Does anyone have recommendations for lotions/creams that can help skin adjust to the weightloss. I'm hoping to avoid loose skin (although I know some is inevitable). I've heard that if you use good lotions you can minimize skin problems. I welcome any and all suggestions..

I hope you are all doing well! Don't give up. Let's do this together!..

Hi everyone,.

I officially started on Wednesday. I had a friend give me a few meals to try during the week before and I used those, bought some low carb snack bars, and egg beaters, and began to use the 5 and 1 method so I would be ready. So far this has been great and I have lost about a pound a day, without excercise. I hurt my back at the gym and the doc said I need to stay away for another 10 days on top of the week I have already taken off.

I was getting into such a groove, so starting Medifast now really works for me. My goal is 40 by my 40th birthday, I could loose more but I need to set realistic goals..

Have a great day, Linda..

Hi everyone! Since starting on February 7, I'm down 6 pounds. This is the easiest 6 pounds I've ever lost I think..

Had a few social situations that presented challenges, though. That's the toughest part for me. Well, actually, it's watching my husband have his glass of wine in the evening. That's hard for me as a wine lover..

How's everyone else doing after week 2?..

Hello all! I have been 100% on plan since Tuesday, so I am feeling good about that. I have been on the scale a bit and know that my loss for week 2, when I weigh in on Monday, won't be as great as it could have been if I hadn't slipped up a bit last weekend and on V-day with some wine. That is the hardest thing for me too ... having to give that up. But I know that I don't lose weight when I consume wine, so it has to go..

The weekends are always challenging for me, but I made it though Friday night and am feeling strong today...

HI All,.

I'm going to join in too. I was on Medifast for 9 months and lost 85 lbs. Went off for a year and gained 45 lbs back- ouch!!! I started last Saturday after returning from vacation, and so far so good..

Mricenews- DermaE makes great lotions. I use one that has DMAE in it, which helps to firm skin. Here's the link..

I actually did quite a bit of research on this because I had over 100 lbs to lose and am 38. At an 85lb loss I had no skin problems, so fingers crossed that it will be OK. DermaE makes several awesome face and body products and they are well priced. But DMAE and Esther C are 2 good things to have in your lotion. Also wear a bra to bed- a comfortable one! This will help stop droop..

Anyway, I'm glad to be back on plan and look forward to feeling good about myself again when I look in the mirror very soon!.

Are any of you planning on exercising and if so how and how often and how long? I didn't exercise last time, but I am starting to work out this time because I'm going to England for 2 weeks at the beginning of May and I have my 20 year class reunion in June and I'd REALLY like to go to that feeling great about the way I look- or I'm not going at all!.

I found that I lost about 9 lbs a month average doing the diet and not exercising, so I am wondering how much I will lose if I work out every day or 4 days a week...

Ive been stalking, so I decided I better speak up!! I am a repeat offender...Lost well over 100 lbs abour 4-5 years ago, and kept it off until I went to Nursing school...OH BOY...totally reality check on what fast food will do to you. Stopped having time for the gym, or the kitchen, and started doing drive throughs....Gained WAY TOO MUCH BACK....

So, since graduation is in December, and we wear royal purple gowns....figured I DID NOT want to look like Barnie the Dinosaur when I crossed that stage..

Started on the 7th also...down 8 lbs the first week! whoo hoo..looks like about 3 this week, but I wont get on the scale for real until tomorrow morning....

I see everybody having troubles with lumps, and have to admit...the lumps just dont bother me..LOL, I see them, but I dont care...(which is bizarre since I was classically trained as a chef, and usually prefer everything to be perfect)....guess I just got to the point where I am so ready to get the weight off I will eat anything....

I stay away from any Medifast recipes....cupcakes and cookies got me in trouble in the first place, I want to get out of the habit of reaching for them.....EVEN if they are good for me ones...Does anybody else feel like that??/.

Anyway, glad we are all in this together. It works, it really does...if you stick to it...If I had ever really done T&M I probably wouldnt be back again...But this time...THE END....will learn how to do it right..

Sorry for the long post...Have a great day.

T..

Thank you so much for the lotion suggestion! I have about 80 more lbs. to lose, and I was really worried about all the loose skin, especially since I'm not getting a tummy tuck if I'm planning to have kids. Maybe after though..haha!..

Mricenews- No problem, it's been a concern for me as well and I'm a researcher by nature. Glad someone else can benefit from all the time I spend tracking down information! Also, I take some daily suppliments for skin and they really do seem to work. Just let me know if you want me to list them. I also buy them through iherb. They have good quality products and fantastic prices..

A friend of mine (my dog sitter) and her husband were apparently guessing my age one day and he thought I was 23 and she guessed that I must be 28 (I have a divorce, a house, 2 dogs, and a business). I'm 38!!! So I guess that what ever I'm doing works pretty well LOL! I hope it holds true when my tummy is finally flat for the first time in 20 years!.

In other news, I'm down 5.6 lbs for the week. I started on Feb. 12th, but was bad on the 14th when I went out with my BF. We tried to get into Red Lobster, but the wait was too long, so ended up at indian and I went off plan. So I'm counting my week from Tuesday to Monday from now on. Anyway, I did notice that yesterday my pants were not choking my tummy when I went out to walk an art fair, and that felt great. By next month those same pants will be too big, I'm sure of it!..

Hello all ... welcome to those who have just spoken up..

My second week was only a 1 pound loss and I would have LOVED to have seen more, but I am trying not to be ruled by the scale. In the past, I have gotten depressed and dropped out of the diet when the scale showed a slow or zero loss, so I am trying really hard not to go there. Wish me luck!.

I have been 100% OP since Tuesday since I slipped and had a glass of wine on V-day..

I was interested in the lotion recommendation, it looks reasonably priced and has organic ingredients..

I had read to use Nivea Firming lotion with Q10, but I don't know if it really works. Dry skin brushing is great, but you do have to keep doing it ... like forever..

I am not sure what to do about exercise. I actually went for a couple of brisk walks yesterday, because I do think that my body just starts to shut down if it doesn't have a reason to stay revved up, but I know that we are supposed to wait 2-3 weeks..

I like to stay away from the recipes ... muffins, cookies, etc... just because the beauty of Medifast to me is the simplicity in my busy life. Maybe if I am on it for months, I'll get bored and want to fiddle with Medifast recipes. Nowadays there are so many more options in the Medifast meals like the brownie and the pancakes that it seems to me that some of the "need" for fiddling with Medifast meals is gone. (I did lose @30 pounds a few years with MF, but regained.)..

Hi everyone,.

Glad to see so much progress from the February starters! So far today is the beginning of Week 3, and I'm down 13.5 pounds! Not sure how much switching from an evening weigh-in to a morning one has changed the number, BUT I'LL TAKE IT LOL! :-).

I agree with you Lyre1, at least for now, I really would like to focus on the simple, tried and true Medifast. Creativity seems awfully related to calories and slowing down this process. So. Week 3 and hopefully exercise this week too! :-)..

So I've been bad. Not super bad, but I feel guilty and I guess this will be my "confession" so to speak. yesterday I went to California Pizza Kitchen with my best friend. She's pregnant, so she has dibs on where we go. Anyway, I was so good. I didn't touch any bread or pizza.

The problem wasn't really CPK...it was after. Movie theater popcorn is my vice. It's awful I know, but I love it. I didn't get to this weight by eating veggies you know?.

Anyway, my friend ordered a small popcorn and I ended up sharing it with her. I felt so terrible about myself after I almost cried. I had just been doing so well that I couldn't believe that I threw it away for stupid popcorn. But I'm back OP today..

I only lost 4 lbs. last week. My goal for this week is 5-7. Hopefully more!.

Also, my birthday is exactly 7 months from today. I'm hoping to hit my goal weight by my birthday! That means 7 months to lose 80 lbs. I think I can do it! Here's to hoping and being back OP!..

Mricenews- My vice is also popcorn. I find that when I'm on MF, I tend to avoid going to the movies all together because it's torture. The one time I did go, I brought 2 bags of cheese puffs (back when the chili nacho cheese puffs were the greatest tasting thing on earth! They must have changed the recipe because now I have a hard time choking them down) and I just slowly ate them both throughout the movie. I was munching and stayed OP. Of course now that the cheese puffs taste terrible, at least the last few boxes I have tried, I am just avoiding the movies all together, much to my boyfriends disgust!.

I did a naughty tonight too. I had a beer at dinner. I was out with friends at one ofmy favorite places and they have this beer, Kona, that I love there. At first I ordered water, but everyone else (including my parents) were drinking, so I finally gave in to temptation and had the beer. I've promised myself a double workout tomorrow. And I feel bad,but not horrible..

Sometimes temptation is just too strong, and it's so hard for us foodies. Alcoholics can avoid going to bars or even out to eat where it's served. Drug addicts can avoid the people and places they used to go for drugs, but foodies can not avoid food. We HAVE to eat to stay alive and sometimes it's so hard to say no when a food that is so tempting is staring us in the face screaming "eat me, I taste amazing!". I have always found that I am best on plan when I just avoid as much temptation as possible. Dining out, going out with friends, traveling are all recipes for disaster. It's sad to say, but I try to keep the socializing to a minimum when I'm OP because I know myself and I can be persuaded to go off if I'm not feeling super strong that day...

I too have had a couple beers, it is a hard thing, my husband and I went to the coast stayed on the beach, and went to cozy little bar had some of my fav Michelob Ultra! well then I add more water, I have realized that it definately slows down the weightloss..

Then I wonder and get worried, how is it going to be when I get to my point where I want to be? I will want to have few socal events with friends and family! Well it just freaks me out! LOL..

Hi all started on the 11th Having a hard time eating all the food however I'm down 18lbs key for me is tons of water have tried every other diet out there in the course of my weight loss life this just seems so much easier I found Walden Farms products many with no calories, carbs or fat at the specialty grocery store favorites are syrup, scampi sauce (on veggies and seafood) and barbecue sauce All very flavorful so a little goes a long way I also love the food and weight trackers online here The nutritional breakdown is amazing..

On the subject of alcohol, I do think for many people, consuming alcohol slows weight loss considerably. This is totally true for me. That is not to say that once you get to your goal weight, you can't develop a plan in which you can have the occasional drink. I hope..

Back around Valentine's Day I had a few glasses of wine and my weight loss slowed so that my second week loss was only 1 pound. I have been 100% OP since then and have been rewarded with the scale moving again. Yay! I'm not recording my loss until my official weigh in on Monday ... but I think it's going to be a good one ... er, as long as I can stay OP through the weekend which is always my biggest challenge...
