My first question is So I called Nutrisystem and the B*tch hung up on me!? Thanks for any response. Another question on my mind: ABSOLUTELY:. |
That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer. I'll do some research and get back to you if I discover an good answer. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably could give you help..

Thanks for posting that Tom. You are truly an inspiration to everyone here. Keep up the good work and keep on posting...

FitTom,.
Great observations!. When I started, I had a goal of 30 lbs without really understanding what this type of lifestyle was.. Now I am 70 lbs lighter and feel great.. My wife (who is also using NS) and I were just discussing the idea of moving off of Nutrisystem food and I believe we will use the same idea the you (and others) are doing with changing the auto-delivery to every 3 months. That way we can still use the Nutrisystem food (and the portion control that it brings) to keep us "on plan".. I, like you, continue to receive lots of comments regarding my weight loss. I am sure some of it is just the amount of change (and over a pretty short time) but I also believe that I have a different attitude since I have lost the weight. As you say, nothing tastes as good as thin feels.. Keep up the great work!. Clark.. |

Tom: You could also change your name to.
Wise. Tom and it would match just as well as. Fit. Tom.... You are still one of my heroes... |
Pearls of wisdom from a wise man!.
You continue to inspire Tom!. Thanks!.. |

I think you are right on point, Tom. I know my eating habits have undergone a real alteration. Not that I don't enjoy an occasional steak, but now it's smaller, leaner, and enjoyed with veggies & a salad instead of a loaded baked potato, a greasy appetizer, and probably a rich dessert. I don't remember the last time I had a cheeseburger (except for Boca). I've eaten more fruit in the last year that I probably had in my entire life up that point. And I like it! I find that veggies have a taste of their own that doesn't require being soaked in butter.
I feel good, my health is much better, I could go on and on. I see a lot of guys out there that are still on the journey to goal. Hang in there, follow the plan, you'll get there! I still look at my. Before. Picture and think "was I really that big?. How did THAT happen?".. |
Well said, Tom! My.
New. Goal is to be able to post here a year from now as a long term maintainer like you. Thanks for the example.. Gordon.. |
WOW - Pam your wise counsel and solid example have been a guiding light since I started NS. Thank you for your kind words!.
Yellerdog - we've traveled this journey together - you've always inspired me with your direct honesty and solid determination.. To all of you - thanks for your kind words - please share more of what you've learned - you inspire me every day and help me stay accountable!.. |
From the year and a half I've been on this forum, it's been easy to see who will succeed and who won't..
And Tom, I always knew you would be a success.. I believe being active on this forum plays a big part in the journey... |
I second that motion. I also hope to be posting here in a year as a long term maintainer. Congrats and keep it up, Tom...
I know this is a men's thread, but just have to congratulate you all on your weight loss and determination. I think I will visit more often and listen to your great ideas. Thanks guys!!!..

These forums are a great inspiration, whenever I feel I am slipping it is great to come read a great positive story or accomplishment..
You guys are awesome!.. |
Great post Tom..
I used to be a ribeye guy too and now they don't even sound appealing. Now if I have a steak, it's a 6-8 oz. (splurge) lean cut accompanied by a salad and some grilled vegetables... |
Words of experience, wisdom... and demonstrated success. Way to go Tom and thanks...
Awesome post Tom, thanks for taking the time to share your wisdom and experiences with all of us..
Myself...I'm quite a ways off from getting to go off plan for a couple days a week, but I have always thought that's what I would end up doing.. I don't have a problem with that lifestyle one bit.. |
Ron, I know you've had many many NSVs - I've got to tell you you're just getting to where I started and you can't believe the great things that are going to happen. I remember, when I started, seeing guys starting at 220 and losing 30 pounds - at 280 I was having fantastic NSVs - I didn't think it would be the same after all I had experienced. It really was..
So hang in there - it just gets better and better. This lifestyle is great - today after breakfast - I really thought how much I enjoyed my "on plan" breakfast. At lunch my regular soup and salad with some soy nuts was more enjoyable than the meals I used to have. This evening, I had Meat Loaf and mashed potatoes- all on plan and all really enjoyable. This lifestyle not only works - it's a great way to live - not a sacrifice... |

Tom,.
You are one of the first guys that I met here on Nutrisystem and I still enjoy reading your posts each and every time. Well said and thanks for the mention. I too am stretching Nutrisystem 3 months at a time as I have found a way to use the system and still drop the weight. These days, I add about 1000 to 1300 calories and you've always said I probably needed to add more cals. well never realized just how much more I really needed until the BB. Now I'm dropping the weight again. I am happy to say that I did find a new lifestyle and can't imagine ever doing it different. Its been quite a journey so far but Nutrisystem has made it fun especially the boards and all of the great people on here such as yourself. Your PP thread was such a big help in the right direction for me and I still stick to it, thanks to you.. Great photo of you two... Funny how 100 lbs. allows you to get closer as less gets in the way. Keep it up and thanks for the thread.. Ben.. |
Thanks Ben - I really enjoy your enthusiasm! I'm glad you got the BB - I've known just from the posts that heavy duty exercise throws people off of their loss because they rarely take in enough calories to compensate. Keep up the good work and keep the BB thread going - I think it will make a wonderful difference for those that exercise more than 30 minutes a day...
Guess I wonder what that good looking women is doing with those two different ugly dudes...
You're not kidding. Man I would have never imagined that I have to eat 3200calories to have a 950 calorie DEFICIT, but it's true! This coming from a previous professional couch potato.
That means that to maintain right now I would need 4100 calories. It boggles my mind but than I really do alot. We are in this shin-dig together and anything I can give back that can help the next guy/gal, I do. I've been there when others like yourself helped me stay on track and keep the fight going..... |
Congrats Tom. I think you know I've followed both your posts and your advice throughout my journey. You are a one of the major influences that have helped me on my way to success. Great job, and thank you...
Thanks Tom, I have had quite a few NSV's, they have all been awesome. One of my favorite ones is, a couple months before I started NS, I had went through my closet and gathered all the clothes I could no longer fit into and put them in a couple large garbage bags marked for Goodwill. That was a depressing day. Well I never got around to taking them in and I just went through the bags last weekend. Not only do all those clothes fit now, most of them are quite baggy. I haven't been this weight in atleast 10 years.
JACKPOT!!! It's like I just discovered a whole new wardrobe. I'm only about a week or so away from 70 pounds lost....that number makes me very excited. I'm looking forward to my future for the first time in what seems like forever!. Thanks again for your encouragement Tom, I may not express it enough, but you are (as well as everyone else in here) a great help... |
Ron, looking forward to the future is probably the most MAJOR NSV. I sometimes forget that awesome change that has happened to me. I was 30 years older 1 year ago! So much of what I felt, I chalked up to age - what a shame! There is no reason we can't keep going strong. Taking off that 100 pound fat suit I was wearing 24 x 7 made an unbelievable difference!..
When I had all the extra weight - I wanted people to meet my wife.
It raised their opinion of me considerably. On a serious note - she was with me through "Thick" and Thin. I've been up and down on the weight scale like an unhealthy pogo stick. Most of the diets I lost weight on were unhealthy and obviously ineffective over the long term. I'm so glad Nutrisystem is a lifestyle change and especially that it is so effective and SO HEALTHY!. In any case there's no accounting for taste - I can't believe that some of our friends asked my wife if she was concerned about other women! When someone says that to me, I just show them her picture.. |
I want to thank all of you experienced in Nutrisystem for sharing your accomplishments and words of encouragement on here. It truly is inspiring to see that it actually can be done and it's also exciting to see all of the benefits that you guys have received from this plan. I'm relatively new here and I'm only in the beginning of my 4th week, but I'm down 16 pounds and I'm learning for myself that this plan really works and it is a true lifestyle change. Like many others who have posted, I plan on being here after I reach goal and posting my own success story and being a full-time long-term maintainer...
Amen, Tom!!!!.
When I was 300+ at 50 yrs, I honestly felt that my life was basically done. Had no enthusiasm for tying my shoes, much less the future. I'm no where near goal yet, but the 50 lbs lost and the process has literally given me a new lease on life. I'm enthusiastic about the future and it shows in so many ways at work and at home.. Thanks Nutrisystem and thanks to Tom and all the others here who have blazed the trail.. Gordon.. |
Well Tom, now that you've put it out there, I also stretch a box three months. However, I knew that I would still have to follow the basic Nutrisystem plan and still to this hour write down everything I eat using the daily planner..
I want to say though that I was solid on the plan for the first 3 months. You'll see by my progress that it is "slow but sure" whereas guys like Jack Bauer and Bolo are at or near their goal and I'm still 20 away.. None the less, I am following the Nutrisystem guidelines most days. When I stray from plan too much there is a penalty as you can see from my most recent up-tick.. It's a pleasure reading and posting in the Men's Room because guys like you and everyone else that posts here are destined to maintain a plan of continuous improvement... |
