My 1st question is: Which diet is better.. ( from experianced weightloss people) G.I diet or Medifast Diet? Thanks in advance for any answer. Second question of mine... Hey folks, I just did my fifth weigh-in and simply have to exclaim for whoever might be looking and wondering that Medifast is not a scam, that it actually seems to work as advertised. This has got to be the easiest, fastest way to lose weight. When they say 2-5 lbs a week they are not kidding.

I've been rather skeptical about Medifast claims. Yes, I see the weight-tickers in peoples' sigs, but really, I mean, c'mon! Conventional weight-loss wisdom states that the MOST one can lose safely is 2 lbs a week and as we know, most people can't do that. I've been on standard, diet/exercise programs for weight loss twice before and averaged 1.5 lbs a week and that was very difficult. On Medifast 2 lbs has been my LOWEST weekly weight loss so far. This is truly amazing, especially when you take into account I haven't been to the gym..

Despite reading a review that stated one sees Medifast ads all over the internet, I must say I do not recall ever seeing a Medifast ad anywhere. I had some dim recollection of a weight-loss program for surgical candidates that used to be Rx only, and searching for that is how I found MF. (Frankly, this lack of splashy corporate advertising added legitimacy to Medifast for me, and delegitimizes other, similar types of programs.).

The food items are surprisingly good. They've really made advancements over the years in the "meal replacement" arena with regard to both flavor and texture. (Now, if the.

Quantity.

Of the meals were just a bit closer to the astronomical, I'd be really happy.).

Is it "easy" so far? Yes and no. For me, it is very easy in one respect since I do not really cook to begin with. Grabbing something that is little-to-no prep or clean up is how I go, so that fits in really well. Its been hard as I'm one of those who likes to chow down at night/weekends when watching tv/movies/games, or when out and about, combined with festive amounts of alcohol. I'm also a huge fan of diet cola able to down 2 ltr 3x a week very easily. Of course, none of this is on the Medifast plan, and I have had to struggle with those temptations....

But man! Then you get on the scale... it makes it all worthwhile. (I'm wondering if slower weight-loss might actually make it easier to cheat. It is SO slow, what's the big deal to stretch it another week or two?) I've actually added 20-30 lbs to my initial goal weight, as that now seems realistic. And assuming things continue as they have, I'll hit that sometime in the summer of 2011..

Ok! Just needed to rant (in a positive way) for a bit. Thanks! Good luck!..

I had heard about it many years ago because a co-worker was put on it because she was morbidly obese. Just never thought about it for myself. About 4 weeks ago I couldn't believe how far I had let myself go and needed to do SOMETHING. Was looking up reviews of other diets and it listed the top 20. Medifast was #2...behind nutrisystem. I had tried Medifast and COULDN'T do it again. So I tried Medifast and I am SO happy I did...

WTG you are doing awesome! Keep up the great work!.

I rarely saw ads before I do medifast now I see them all the time! Some of it has to do with those sites where they track what you're talking about and post ads about it. FB and myspace (since I've mentioned Medifast on there) they have ads almost daily on my page! It's crazy! LOL..

Yes I agree it's wonderful. The thing I love about it is it's so easy and convenient. No more spending hours in the kitchen measuring and weighing little bits of this and little bits of that. I lost a bunch of weight on e-diets and Spark People before but was so exhausted after working two jobs and then staying up to prepare my next day's meals that I finally quit. Also you see so much faster results on Medifast and you feel great because you are getting all the nutrition you need every day without having to think about it. So happy I am doing this...

The only thing I wish Medifast could do better is package up a mini psychiatrist to include with your first delivery so that you could have your own personal Dr on a shelf right next to your meals. Medifast meals and plan are helping me get the weight off but that dr could help fix the self-doubts that keep poping up...

I completely agree it's not a scam - the only thing that does irk me slightly is seeing the food in the banner ads that's /entirely/ not available on the program. Getting people to come look at the program by showing junk food that isn't an option is somewhat dirty tactics...

I agree 100%. Medifast is the best thing out there. I had never heard of it either. Within the same week my doctor recommended it and an old friend mentioned she had done it with great success. I have never looked back!..

I think they are trying to say that if your "diet" looks like this ice cream/cake or whatever other junk, then you need MF. I didn't perceive it as those items being offered by MF...

Ohhh, I really didn't get it with those ads. And it's super annoying too, because these ads show up for me all over the internet because of some sort of computer "cookie" type ad system ... they know I'm interested in MF, so the ads pop up everywhere I go... I am *doing* Medifast for pete's sake! Don't keep showing me cupcakes!..

Yep, I'm joining in the chorus of everyone who loves Medifast and know that it definitely is NOT a scam! I have fooled around with these diets since I lost the weight: Advanced Mediterranean Diet (this one is a good one though for Maintenance mode), South Beach, Atkins...but nothing gets the fat off of me like Medifast. I know it gets boring to eat it after a while; I saw someone say that in another post. But think of it this way: staying OP on Medifast allows us to eat what we need while getting rid of the cravings and the cheating and the despair. Smokers and alcoholics don't need smoking and drinking just to live. We need food to live though! Medifast allows me to keep fed without eating those things that are all too easy to overeat (just about everything for me). Going on a regular diet is like a smoker being allowed to smoke only a couple of cigarettes, or an alcoholic only being allowed to have a drink or two.

It's the closest to "abstaining" that we can get if food is our "addiction"..

Something I did when I was done losing the weight. I bought my new clothes and VOWED that I would NEVER buy any other size, EVER. So at the moment my clothes are tight on me; that's why I'm here again! But I haven't bought a bigger size! And I'm feeling really good. I feel like I'm beating down the food demon every day...

Medifast has been a gift from the goddesses to me. I devoted a week researching various plans once I finally realized I couldn't do it on my own. This plan works. Not only did it give me back my health-but size 10 feels great as well. Sometimes I look in the mirror and cry because I like what I see. It's been a long time since I could say that...

Congrats! You've done a great job. Hold on tight to the feeling you have when you look in the mirror; that's the essence of what will guide you and sustain you in T&M. See you soon...
